@@bazzel1059 In deed, the netherite tools and armor isn't really worth the effort, unless you're in the end-game. But saying that it is not better then diamond is straight up a lie : It can do anything that diamond does and more and it even does it better for the most part. So yeah, while the netherite gear is almost exclusively quality of life improvements, it's still an upgrade from the existing diamond armor and is therefore better in every way.

He said that if they add a rarer material, they will make it an upgrade to diamond, that's what they did with netherite, since you need to craft an ingot of netherite with a piece of diamond gear.

In appearance it looks nothing like diamond, and doesn't share a name with it, and that's what really counts for the branding. However the crafting recipe is for all intents and purposes it's a completely different item

this is WHY I install mods. Minecraft for me is too simple in vanilla, so I play collections of individually small tweaks to the game designed to make the game much harder or way more complex (cough cough interactions), such as SkyFactory, or Project Ozone. I enjoy the massive, incomprehensible networks of interlocking content, but in such a way that you have complete freedom to do exactly whatever the hell you want. For example, Astroblock. It takes the skyblock genre and flips it on it's head, starting you in the _asteroid field_. You have to build all sorts of interesting machines to get back to the now invaded earth, but it manages to come all the way back to the simplicity of a normal skyblock game (kind of). This is the kind of gameplay I love. Yes, I know, I should play factorio if I want complex gameplay. Honestly thinking about playing it.

I don't think it's the same with terraria. Moonlord feels climactic and has a sense of finality that the ender dragon just does not have. He is an eldritch abomination coming to your world to break apart everything you've created while the ender dragon does... Well nothing. People don't mod because moonlord wasn't a good final boss like in minecraft but because they just want more content.

His event is trash, his music kinda sucks as final boss music considering the songs that came before it, he has an attack and defense phase instead of LITERALLY every other boss which you could always hit, and he does WAYYY too much damage. Not to mention that they're woefully underpowered. Yes, it can be used as a ranged or melee weapon, but the damage output for both is just pathetic. It's so unbalanced that even with *sharpness 23,* a thrown trident still can't 1 shot kill you with no armour, like a bow can with a critical hit. It's just unreal. Oh, and it only has the durability of an iron sword, but still can't be crafted or repaired without mending. What the hell, Mojang?

Personally, I think tridents were a bad addition to Minecraft. Tridents aren't inherently a bad idea and are conceptually good, but if they are ever going to introduce a new weapon in Minecraft, it must be craftable and come in variations, such as wood, stone, iron, gold and diamond, but not only is the trident only obtainable through defeating a Drowned equipped with one and only comes in one form, but it's a bit exceptionally overpowered. I really want Mojang to continue adding more weapons, but they are limiting the potential for them by giving a single weapon multiple unique abilities, from spinning you to the air, summoning lightning and it returning back towards you upon throwing it. Advantages like that could have been saved for future items. Re-texturing it to resemble the classic sword more would also be an improvement.

IMO it's like the Elytra but without the downsides of not having a chest plate plus a bunch of cool enchants. It needs some balancing. Maybe giving some of its enchants to other things (riptide to elytras, channeling to bows and arrows but you can't have infinity or mending then)

Also cause minecrafts chunks are done completely vertically it severely limits the amount of depth you can have, cube chunks would help with that. Someone made a cubic chunks mod but it bugs out with other mods, cause yk rewriting chunks.

@Beat me I'm honestly not too big a fan of the new netherite upgrading system, it seems to stray too far from vanilla...

I personally believe that a smaller SHEILD should be more efficient than a large one. Bucklers were used by most infantry in the middle ages, not for it's side of density but it's weight, introduce 2 types of shield. The defensive large shields that can comfortably yet skillfully defend ones self, and the agile small shields for parry and quick blocks that require different skills

The bucklers were mostly popular for civilians, same as sword for a single reason. They are easy to carry around. The actual soldiers mostly used bigger shields and weapons that were more capable at taking down armored enemies.

bucklers were pretty much never used by infantry. they were used almost exclusively for civilian self defense, in tandem with a one-handed sword. bucklers function terribly as shields in large infantry formations for many reasons

I'm real interested to see you revisit Minecraft, after both parts of the Cave Update is Complete, it feels like Mojang's momentum has picked up since then, and there's a lot more known about their design philosophy. (IE they're hesitation to implement natural disasters, because they want the player to be at least in part, responsible for anything bad that happens) They were willing to play with the idea of procedural generated dimensions in their yearly april fools update, and as it turns out, they are willing to make tiers that are stronger with diamond, as long as diamond is a core part of the process. (Netherite) The fact that Mojang were willing to dive deep into a Cave update after so much fan demand, shows that they are here, and are listening. The height limit will be 64 blocks taller, and the caves will be 64 blocks deeper. Where to go from here, as a jumping point? What does the road map look like?

@@kaanuysal579 Actually you should be happy we are getting updates in the first place, the biome update is there as an addition to 1.15, they didn't want to leave us with nothing but bug fixes so they gave us bees and a biome update. Mojang is trying to fix bugs before adding new content, if they never made the buzzy bees update, the would be so many bugs ironically.

Could not agree more with what you've said about combat. First mods I look for are things to make the combat more fluid or dynamic. That alone makes exploration far more fun.

They need more things similar to enchanting. It's progression that requires you to build rooms. Villagers should offer items specific to them.

"I want crazy caves" Cave update: we got it all

You talked about how Minecraft has a philosophy of letting the player choose to face a challenge instead of forcing it on them (for example, a raid can spawn only if the player gets bad omen somehow). that's a really good point, and i think i have a way to work around it really well. Minecraft already has a built in difficulty feature, but it's pretty simple, it mostly controls how damage mobs do. i think we can expand it to how much choice do players get in choosing their challenges. if they play in easy, they'll never get a surprise raid or some other similar mechanic, but if they play on hard, they'll have to be ready at all times for some thing like that to happen.

Your explanation for all of this is saying that Minecraft is already too complicated with red stone, but the difference is that it’s a choice to use red stone and it doesn’t affect gameplay if you decide to never use it ever. Your ideas change the fundamental logic the game has been using with villages and such since they were created.

Personally I’d love a 2nd cave update which gives us ores that make it worth it to explore them because currently I’ve got no reason to explore a cave cuz telescopes aren’t worth the exploration and copper is entirely avoidable

Facts dude, it seems Mojang forgot to add more ores with unique functions to the caves update which they are much more important than building blocks that rust and a glorified optifine zoom item, I even believe that new ores are more important than a better cave generation because now caves have the same ores just bigger or sometimes claustrophobic, but that's my opinion.

I like to play what I call an “adventure mode” I make temporary houses all across the map out basic resources in and that’s it I go out I find diamonds in caves or in ships Prioritise adventure to progress It makes for an other game

old survival was great because of the health and armor system. armor constantly protects you less so you ALWAYS need more rescources, health doesnt regen so you NEED a farm. Mining is dangerous so you NEED to make bases and supply depots and MINECARTS to stay alive. even food not stacking works with this

There is a mod that adds a dodge to Minecraft, it's called Elenai dodge 2. It adds a dodge that functions like a short hop, but the more armor value you have, the less dodges you get, so let's say iron armor has a value of 50, and diamond 80, so the more value it has, the less dodges you get, you need 4 or more hunger to use a dodge, and when you use it, it removes one dodge, it regents after a short while, 3 to 5 secs.

While I like a lot of these ideas in this video, there are a few things I'd like to point out. 1. Beacons provide some level of what you were talking about with the conduit 2. The new nether update does give revival to nether exploration 3. Ocean monuments and woodland mansions contents are for the lore, at least to a certain degree

This man predicted both the nether and the cave update....

Jeez I hate how good that transition to your sponsor is... Anyway here are my thoughts. Food will need to be more unique in order to encourage diverse crop growing. I would add food groups, where the last food you ate would prevent hunger from a certain activity dependent on that food group. For example, if fish was the last thing you ate, you could swim for longer without losing as much hunger. This would organically encourage people to seek out higher quality food such as soups and pies to gain buffs from multiple food groups, not to mention the possibility for powerful magical type food which offer similar unintrusive buffs but in a much more powerful way. I like the structure idea, and the forethought to make it similar to the environment. It's better than forcing players to build the structures as there are players with massive worlds and just want to carry a crafting table on them instead of building a whole structure every time they need some extra materials. Tying caves to combat is a very fresh perspective, and I like the ability to prevent damage as a starting point to improving combat. Just one note about the hoe, the fishing rod already does that and a player is more likely to have a fishing rod on them than a hoe. That was an interesting analogy for the Woodland Mansion. However, I think the woodland mansion needs some exclusive loot now that Totems can be obtained from high level Raids. The biome specific part was nice to hear again. As for gemstones expanding enchantments, I can't tell you how much I agree. I even got a mod made called Reagenchant that adds another slot in the enchantment table where you can put something to increase the chances of getting an enchantment tied to it - blaze powder for fire related enchantments for instance. I don't think we need a new dimension, personally. I would be fine with making the End more interesting - the original sky dimension got replaced with the end and they already have the floating islands there, surely there's room for stuff other than chorus trees and end cities. Also YES MODDING API HOLY SHIT MAKE JAVA EDITION OPEN SOURCE

Agreed. I don't think the fishing rod entirely serves that purpose yet because it's too inaccurate, but it could be better than hoes with refinement. Making the end more interesting is definitely the most appropriate place for an "end" game experience. But I'd also like substantial content in the Nether. The thematic variety presented by a new dimension is the biggest loss with no new dimension, unless the end or Nether can spice themselves up a little.

@@Whitelight One thing I never understood about the end was mentioned in this video. You spawn into the end and are immediately face to face with the dragon before the dimension is free to explore. However, all the "leveling up" you go through post-dragon fight doesn't really progress anywhere. If you want the dragon to feel like the end of the game, I'd flip the order in which you face these obstacles. Make the dragon something you need to summon or lure out. If you go into the end, you first must travel the end cities and try to piece together the mystery of what's keeping you from returning home. You'll find your elytra as well as specific items (think similar to materials needed to activate a conduit), and you'll use what you originally came with as well as what you've found to engage the dragon and return home. The conduit you made then becomes the portal home. This also allows modders/devs the option to further buff the dragon's difficulty, as you'll be equipped with elytra and near Max enchanted diamond armor and weapons This creates a certain build up to the supposed "final boss" of the game without adding another difficulty tier in the form of a post-end dimension, as discovering another dimension only available after the credits roll feels a bit out of order in this context

Enemy variety is key, don't make the enemies stupider than the player, create different enemies to counter what the player can do. A world that can get harder like that will make it feel more dynamic.

We need a completely different style village that is ruled by the pillagers. It should have walls around it with a lot of pillagers guarding it. They should also add a passive type of the pillagers that work in there, similar to the normal villager, but maybe a different voice and face and you can befriend them after you win the raid. They could split all the villager deals to make the pillager people the more experienced ones with the best deals to make it more rewarding.

Netherite is good in concept, but bad in execution. It's a wasteful upgrade because many of the features of netherite can be counterbalanced in far more efficient ways. Let me give you a couple of counterarguments people attempt to give me with my claim that it's a wasteful upgrade: "It doesn't burn in lava" but literally everything else does. *Laughs in fire resistance potions* "It has more durability" *laughs in mending books* "It looks cooler" netherite looks like a replacement of diamond, not an upgrade. Diamond is still the desirable armour you need to kill the dragon, and there's no point in getting netherite for some mostly useless upgrades.

Fat Autistic Kid the difference is a new challenge, diamond armor can be obtained from villagers very easy, more durability even if you have mending it still takes time to go to a farm to repair it, not burning in lava is a great feature not everybody carries fire res all the time and if they even have time to drink it and the looks cooler thing just depends on the skin

@@henny7734 Well blame Mojang for a broken progression system if you can get diamond easily from them. Also, durability doesn't matter, you literally just said it. Yeah, not everyone carries fire res but people should do it more often as it's easier than ever to obtain and especially easier than ancient debris. Also, the matter of drinking it is the entire point as you don't want to drink it too early or too late. It follows the principles food had in early survival where you had to bring the right amount of food with you in order to heal up again in exchange of inventory space. Also the whole "cooler" thing was not my problem, that's a subjective statement (for me, it looks like a bland stone wannabe), my problem is how it looks like a replacement of diamond, not an upgrade like they're trying to advertise it. What's the point in doing the challenge when you can kill the enderdragon with diamond?

@David Valenzuela idk, I remember always watching him and the guy with the walking dead skin, so I looked in the description of his channel and said he was going through mental problems are something like that, I was shocked to see it. So sad to see how my childhood channels all fell off so quickly, stampy, Lee bear, lion maker, etc

This is the only time I think I've ever actually commented to try to give an idea that adds to the video. I entirely agree that strongholds, and nether fortresses are boring compared to end cities and water temples. I think the key difference between them is that end cities and water temples have specialty effects unique to their areas that challenge the player in a new way (levitation and mining fatigue). I think a good way to fix nether fortresses and strongholds without fundamentally changing them would be to add similar systems. Imagine if setting foot within a nether fortress lit you on fire, and there were systems in place to strategically navigate your way through this new challenge. It would make the reward (blaze rods aka fire resistance potions) far more rewarding. A similar system could be added to strongholds, maybe player blindness that is lifted once you open the portal to the end, sucking the darkness out of the dungeon? Idk im just brainstorming, great video as always my man keep it up

@@banned4unknowen246 there should also be an upgraded brewing stand and enchanting table, but both are very hard to make and cost a lot to create.

The biggest problem is that Minecraft's most unique core mechanic, building, is completely useless. You can dig a tiny hole in the wall and live there until the endgame, there is no advantage to building besides the satisfaction of making your base look cool. We need game mechanics that require building. Instead of having villages pre-generated, give us cavemen who we have to build houses for in order to trade with. Give us monsters that can break blocks so we have to think strategically when building a house. Give us weather that makes shelter a requirement for survival.

I honestly want to make a game similar to Genndy Tartavosky's Primal. It's like minecraft but more survival oriented and instead of zombies and skeletons. You got prehistoric and giant animals with nomadic tribes of cavemen wandering through the ruins of some ancient bronze age civilization that was torn apart by magic. This would essentially be ark, but not all the dinosaurs are tamable and we take your guns away. That would be a fuckin gnarly hardcore experience. Imagine building a tribe, hunting mammoths, fending off predators, attacking rival tribes, fighting for the last scraps of ancient armor and weapons instead of mining for it.

I think something that would really add to the effectiveness of certain materials in the end game, are specific effects that are bound to a material. In the Aether, the skyroot wooden tools have the ability to double drop blocks that weren't farmed by the player and placed. So these easy to obtain wooden tools can be used for farming, or killing mobs etc. The Holystone tools drop ambrosium shards when used, which are useful throughout the aether, and make stone tools a viable choice.

God, backend optimisation has been the thing I've wanted the most for the last few updates. We're suffering from ever increasing amounts of server lag and all we get in response is updates that add more entities

It’s been a year, we’re still waiting for the directors cut.

I feel like the Terraria Devs watch these videos more , Like about NPCs like terraria but with more depth, So in 2020 they added the portals , and every NPC likes place likes people etc and they can reduce prices add more items , and give you that Magical portal for faster movement in the world.

This is the one. For the most part i found myself going "oh that's a great idea, i like that". In the other videos a lot of it i thought that there was a lot that took away from the game and turned it into something far removed from what it is now, but this is almost all great

Yeah KeeN I agree, a lot of the stuff I was hearing sounded like stuff that already existed as mods that were better off staying as just mods. I like the idea of Minecraft being effectively a blank canvas for players, where they can choose simplicity(average minecraft playthroughs from 1.12-1.15) or complicate things beyond any reasonable meaning(redstone builders and regular structure builders). I don’t think the game should just be made more complicated in its standard form. I think the game should remain simple, but make it easier for modding the game. Having simplicity with the choice of complexity would be best, since it’ll allow for players to play their own way.

Horse breeding has always been a thing. Horses vary in speed, max jump height, health and coloring. All of these are heritable traits through an algorithm. I’m not a master of this but one of my buddies I used to play with would breed up a master race of horses that could jump over 5 blocks, run at like 8 blocks a second, and had over 15 hearts. That’s always been a thing.

16:39 A mod called BetterShields already makes shields follow normal progression, with wood shields only blocking 75% damage.

A snow army coming after a certain amount of days sounds awsome

@@isteele Just imagine a situation in your hardcore world you end up mining for too long and when you're finally back to the surface, there's only a cold fog to meet you, you finally realized that you didn't bring your clock with you so now you're completely open in a place where you can't barely see 3 blocks ahead of you with some of the strongest enemies in the game trying to kill you at any cost and the fact that you probably already took some damage when mining only makes things worse. You are about to have the fight of your life

it looks like the blood moon in Terraria which I discovered after playing for 2 days a few days ago

notch said himself in an interview that he thought he wasn't going to buff skeletons because dodging arrows was more fun. So i guess he did think about dodging a bit.
