The Perfect Short Rib Soup | Galbitang (갈비탕)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Galbitang, aka Korean Short Rib Soup, is super easy to make but very expensive! If you have noticed, the prices of short ribs at restaurants or supermarkets are going off the roof! If you have the time and want to make it at home, try out this perfect short rib soup recipe~ 🍲
One benefit of making it at home is that you can clean out the bones well enough to not taste any sandiness or gaminess from the short ribs. I'll show you how to do all of that in the video.

갈비탕 is actually my favorite food, but I thought the only way to eat these in Canada was with those pre-made stocks they sell at asian food stores (which never quite taste as good as restaurant ones). It's good to know that the stock is actually that simple. I'm definitely going to try making them! I'm probably gonna throw in some glass noodles too

@@ChefChrisCho whenever I make soup like this, it’s always not flavorful / have dull flavor without msg/chicken powder….if I add more salt, it just becomes salty without being umami…any tips?

  • @sinori008

@@MrCorleonefrancescoadd just a small amount of soy sauce, and mostly season it with salt. Dont forget the pepper. You dont need msg. I like the minced garlic Chef Choi adds at the end (maybe 15-20 min before the soup is finished for the extra kick). Galbi tang is all about the clean pure taste of the broth. Oh and don’t forget some fresh scallions/green onions at the end. I think it will taste perfect if you follow this videos method/recipe, no cap.

5:05 i like the tips to soak the meat first. I wash, rinse, boil and rinse, but soaking for 1-2 hours is a great tip. I will need to try this recipe.

Chef Chris, I love beef soups but I love lots of vegetables in it too. Is there a Korean beef soup with vegetables? It's not so much a big variety of vegetables but the fact that there's a lot of 1 or 2 kinds in it. Here on Guam we love our beef soup with cabbage and Kentucky wonder beans or yard beans. We also add taro or potato chunks.
