The Perfect S15? - Nob Taniguchi's Street Nissan Silvia

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

An influential S15 Silvia to say the least, Nob's first S15 street car is a big favorite of mine. The car was pretty much built along side his red HKS D1 S15 Silvia (which is now in the UK) back in the early to mid-2000, a collaboration between Car Make T&E (as it was known back then), HKS, Yokohama Wheels, Yokohama Tires, Project Miu, Auto Produce Boss and Bride. I first shot the car in 2006, then it got some vertical Lambo doors and now in this episode I get a chance to check it out before it gets sent off to its new home in the US - JDM Supreme.

This particular S15 is definitely part of a handful of legendary Japanese tuner S15's: - TOP SECRET S15 built for Ryuji Miki - KEI OFFICE S15 built for Yasuyuki Kazama - HKS / GENKI S15 built for Nobeteru Taniguchi - SCORCH RACING / Under Suzuki's Time Attack S15

It's wild how a car that old can look thoroughly modern. You can really see the bones of new car design in some of these legendary builds.

Great feature Dino! Not sure if you knew but this specific S15 had won the first D1GP season and it was actually Kei Office’s first R&D S15 (yellow car) before they got the blue car (which incidentally became the 2005, and 2009-2011 D1GP championship winning car).

Besides DK Tsuchiya, NOB Taniguchi is one of my most favorite JDM pro driver, every car build he develops exudes a sense of style, smoothness and power, just like his character and driving skill! His early D1 days driving the HKS S15 and SXE10 were such iconic moments for me, would be absolutely incredible if you could feature these two iconic drift machines! This T&E kit is the best looking S15 kit in my opinion, so simple yet elegant, the previous gull wing doors looked kinda tacky though, but again such an iconic NOB street S15 that is so instantly recognizable!

i had pictures of the red 180, kouki s14 & of course this s15 on my bedroom wall back in probably 2005 maybe this was my absolute dream build. I can't believe JDM supreme is getting yet another piece of Japanese tuning culture history I don't know wether I love JDM supreme or hate him lol there's a big part of me that truly thinks a majority of these legendary status builds & shop/demo cars should stay in Japan where they belong in a museum or some type of public collection say at a track on display & to run demos to inspire & motivate future generations of Japanese tuners but I really think taking basically all of most famous JDM builds out of Japan is a bad idea

@@dino_dc no doubt and I'm sure some part of me is just jealous beyond belief lol but also something I can't quite put my finger on that makes me feel like all of these legendary builds I grew up idolizing belong w/ their original owners / shops even tho I'm sure they had their reasons for selling I sometimes wonder if they realize just how iconic some of these 2000's era builds are. Like I struggle with anyone other than NOB driving this s15 or Smokey & the top secret Supra/GTR or Daijiro Inada & the Option/Jun 350z & so many others I've seen sold & shipped overseas. I do agree & am thankful that at least JDM supreme is keeping them in their original state because it's physically painful to see builds that are just as much works of art & of historical/ cultural importance as any painting or sculpture getting parted out or rebuilt like most recently the endless drag s15 by the idiot at auto finesse. And sure if I had the money would I love to own one of the builds I drooled over for years, that shaped my taste to this day, absolutely but like I said for reasons I can't exactly explain I feel I guess guilty seeing Japan loose so many of its legendary builds. I was watching an interview w/ the guy that ended up buying the HKS r33 and he said something similar along the lines of when it was finally in his possession that he had so much love and respect for build with its he felt almost guilty for it no longer being in Japan that when he dies it's going to be sent back to HKS
