Though the retails aren't that expensive to be honest, I still wouldn't bother buying them. I bought Navapods some time ago (for 50$ or so) and they work great. I'm not an audiophile or anything but they sound pretty decent to me. But nowadays there are quite a lot of knock offs out there so you might get them even cheaper (I just can't recommend any since Navapods are the only ones I tried).

The i500 AirPods are actually perfect. I’ve used them for about a year it’s a 1:1 design I got them all for my family too and they love it. I got it on Ali express a year ago for 15 bucks. Definitely worth it and am still using them!

While you’re right in the fact that it doesn’t matter to the fraudulent manufacturer, it does to the buyer as customs often confiscates counterfeit products and can report their destination to the authentic manufacturer here in America. Probably as much as I do lol. I’ve upgraded from the 4 (I know that cable is dead) but I went to the 6s, 6s+, 7(product red), upgraded to the 8+, switched carriers and got the XS, and then switched again and went to the XR. Plus I’ve bought two different AirPods and I’ve bought a few just to have laying around. It’s pathetic. I actually have two Apple Watch charges. I have a problem haha
