If you're looking for the perfect dessert for a 4th of July celebration, then this recipe is for you. So festive and patriotic, but even more delicious. It is always a huge hit when we serve at an Independence Day cookout!

American Flag Cake Ingredients:
For the Cake:
3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
2¾ cups all-purpose flour
2½ tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
3 large egg whites, plus 1 whole egg
2 cups sugar, divided
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1½ cups buttermilk
For the Frosting and Decorating the Cake:
3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (3 sticks)
1 lb cream cheese, room temperature
3/4 lb powdered sugar, about 3 cups
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 pint fresh blueberries
1 pint fresh strawberries, stemmed and sliced.

What a beautiful cake!!! Love that you guys enjoy cooking together!!! I miss having the big old cookouts of my youth. They were so much fun. Now it just hubby, me & mom. All the kids and grandkids are too far away. Happy 4th of July & have a slice of cake for me!!! I think we are just having steak tips & blueberry pie here. Haven’t decided on a side yet.🇺🇸🎆🎉
