The Pennine Way - Kirk Yetholm & The Cheviots - Montane Spine Race Reccy
In this video Stef and I head for a run south along the Pennine Way from Kirk Yetholm to The Shill. Exploring the high route and the low route options that the Pennine Way has towards the northern end of its 268 mile journey from England to Scotland. We're doing the Montane Spine Challenger North in 2023 so it was a valuable reccy of the area for Stef and it will also help in December 2022 when we tackle to notorious Cheviot Goat race.

Eh up Deano. Firstly I need to let you know I have massive beard envy 😂. Looking sharp mate. Congratulations on the new job. You’re only here once so gotta chase your dreams. As for the video, what a beautiful part of the world. Lovely scenery although I’m not cut out for running it. Soundtrack as always superb. Your music is instantly recognisable. Look forward to the next one ☝️

Hahaha thanks for watching Paul, the beard game is strong at the minute but thinking of going full ‘desert island castaway’ to see how it might look. I’ll probably chicken out though.
Awwe lovely dog xx

Always good to see you back out there Dean, especially up in my old haunt, Northumberland. We were up there visiting family recently (for the first time in about two years). Good luck with the running.

Thanks for watching Marc, Northumberland is a stunning part of the world. I’ll be back up that way again in December for the Cheviot Goat and then again in January with the new job.
Looking forward to looking after you both at The Cheviot Goat at the Barrowburn Checkpoint.

Thanks for watching Sharon, looking forward to the Goat. Hopefully I won’t be too destroyed by Barrowburn. Can’t wait for the Spine too, see you at CP5.5 at some point hopefully 👍
Wow, there are some very atmospheric views on that stage. Looks like there wasn’t many people around, absolute bliss! 18 years is a long time in a job. Dream job sounds interesting, I remember in an earlier video or two you did say what that would be, it will be interesting to know if that it still the dream job 😁 I am still keeping an eye on jobs near the Peak District, it’s still the dream to move there or very close to it. Great video, fantastic to watch your progress with the running over the past few years. I really do need to get back into running. I did do a short run down Cavedale to see how I handled loose rocky going and it was a lot better than I thought ( well for my age anyway!). Hopefully back for some winter hiking in February 👍

Hi Greg, thanks for watching. I think we only saw 2 or 3 other people in the few hours we were out on this run. It was a really great weekend and a much needed break after a tough few weeks in my old job saying goodbye to people I’d worked with for the best part of my adult life. Onwards though, really enjoying the new job
What is the name of your nice music on the opening video track please?

Thanks for watching Michael, it’s a track I made myself called ‘High’
Great to see you guys out on the Pennine Way again. I've ended up opting for an alternative race next year, after almost entering the Challenger North. Similar distance though! Did you enter the Cheviot Goat in the end?
@DeanRead

Thanks for watching Hannah, shame you’re not doing the challenger north next year… 2024 perhaps? Yeah we entered the Cheviot Goat, I have my fingers crossed for reasonable weather as it can become very ‘winter Spine like’ up there in December 😁
Morning how you doing? Have you done the Allendale challenge before?

Thanks for watching 👍 I’ve been really busy with lots of run leading on trail running weekends and other adventures, I’ve just been doing it all without the camera which is a shame sometimes as I often wish I could document it all
