Thank you for playing different kinds of music instead of just playing generic Hendrix blues noodling stuff. It's good to hear a mix of styles from this guitar, which you clearly demonstrated in this review. Surf, Grateful Dead, western, alt psychedelic rock, etc. Thanks man, I really want this guitar.

Great playing. I like the rosewood neck and the look of the 61 and the quackiness of the pickups on the 57 model.

@@craigthomson3621 Hi Craig. I’ve tried a few AVRI Teles and Strats over the years and they’re lovely guitars. In fact I own an AVRI 50s Tele. The quality is top notch on both however, I do find the CS a noticeable “jump”, in terms of neck, fretwork, and (in the case of my Strat), the pickups. I guess that’s what you’re paying the extra for though!

It ain't crazy. It must be contagious. I got mine yesterday and saved five hundred bucks on a new one by taking a demo. It is flawless. Not a scratch. I think demo must mean returns too. Mine is beautiful. It has a lightly figured neck that's even and the 7.25 neck is just what the Dr ordered. I was having problems on the compound neck on my deluxe. To flat since having some surgeries on my frethand. I mean I am really digging it.

Did... did I just... was that... FANTASTIC! Very nice 'Apache', but 'Tonight I'm gonna rock you, Tonight' is a true classic!

Cheers! The only new Strat currently available with a Rosewood board and soft V neck is the Eric Johnson Signature Strat, otherwise there's always the Custom Shop 😉

I was getting so nonplussed with modern Fender. Of course they get me back with vintage spec guitars. Lol

Looks great, sounds great and yes I would love to own / play one. The bridge tone is usable too. Have you tried disconnecting the btidge pick-up tone control yet, it really roars!!

Just watched this again. Great demo, fantastic playing and super nice video quality. Well done. Is there any way you could do a straight up ‘57 vs ‘61 comparison? Thx

I have one, & this is a great review. The nearest thing most of us would get to ‘61 when new. Although, on this I don’t like the mint guard & aged plastics. Ok on a relic I guess but new they were white. I’m changing mine to white, it can age like the rest. I agree about the sound. I also have a 1982 ‘57 AVRI & it sounds meatier.

Fiesta Red is such a interesting color, depending on the lighting of the videos and the age of the guitar it can look red, orange or even a salmony pink. Is Fiesta pretty homogenous over the years,.. or is there a wide variance? And is this particular one as orangey as it looks in the video?

What a sweet Strat and great playing man! The last part sounds just like My Bloody Valentine! How do you achieve that wall of noise?

That’s one beautiful Strat. The Fiesta and the rosewood is a match made in heaven. I always swore I’d own one! How big are the frets? Spaghetti like the Fender Vinteras or vintage tall like the Squiers?

Absolutely, Rosewood slab board is a huge vibe. Frets are fairly skinny with a bit of height and rolled off edges

Other people have commented the same thing but thank you for playing some variety is styles on this Strat! You sound great and don’t think I didn’t notice that Candyman lick 😉. What sort of amp were you playing through? Maybe a deluxe reverb? Def going to invest in of these soon.

Thanks very much! Our Amp for this video was a Strymon Iridium Amp and Cab sim pedal (on the Fender amp setting), with Tom using a few pedals at the end: Fuzz Face, EQD Special Cranker, Boss Space Echo, Ditto looper and a Fender Tre-Verb.

5:18 I did it - I found the sound clip that single handedly sold out all of these guitars!

How do they compare to the old AVRI series?

This is the fiesta red color it seems. Is it as orange as it is in this video in person? I actually like it when it's more orange like this.

Great sound. Really. But I always thought the '50s to be brighter than the '60s ...

They finally got the look we all want right (original colors and “clay” dot rosewood fretboard), but then crapped in the punch bowl with the 7.25 radius (the only vintage spec most people would prefer to move on from).

Depends on the light. FR imho is three colors in one: varying shades of red, orange, pink/salmon. Som e people don’t like it, I think mine looks fantastic.

Anyone own an old AVRI (80s or 90s) and can compare that to the AVRI II? What are the differences exactly?

Having watched your review of the AV II 57 strat I thought the 57 strat sounded better with richer and glassy like tones the 61 sounded more of a rock guitar!

Would you prefer this or the American original 60’s strat?

it'd be interesting to hear the difference, but we've not had any American Original strats in stock for a while so it's tough to say! The American Original has a flatter fret board, so just depends what you like.

@@MilkAndSpaghetti It does have the plastic but I didn't have any plastic stuck under the bolts. However I did have to remove the knobs which was annoying. All of the fender line seems to come this way.

Got mine about 2 weeks ago and sent it right back. It felt good but the fretboard had Lacquer smears on multiple frets under the B and E strings. Some frets were unfinished on the sides. Very sloppy workmanship. Dumping over 2k on this guitar and being American made I was thinking I was getting a better quality. My MIJ Strat I purchased new in '87 puts this guitar to shame. Not impressed with their quality control. Mine looked like a factory second you would find on sale at Guitar Center for 50% off. They suggested that I take it to a local Fender warranty shop to make the corrections and repairs but after dropping that much money on it the last thing I need to do is waste my time and gas trooping this thing around.

Nitro finish but poly undercoat... so yeah...

They all do that. Recently I found out Fender never actually did 100% nitro. There’s one guy on eBay who sells 100% nitro bodies (no polyurethane no polyester whatsoever), I’d be interested in how they look after two months

Fender does this all the time - always, always, ALWAYS advertises the new stuff, and then puts out a trickle, especially in the good colors, leaving you to shake your head at Sweetwater's chirpy little "Worth Waitng For!" blurb. Cut the crap, Fender - stop advertising stuff you didn't deliver yet.

It's a shame that Fender puts the Fender logo on the headstock of this guitar with a sticker and that for a guitar of more than two thousand euros or dollars!

Who puts a Spinal Tap deep cut into a demo? I mean, really?!?

These AV II guitars are a similar price to the Ultra Luxe's. I don't understand why they have to cost so much when they are just rebuilding with an old spec. Sure they make it "authentic" and add "new pickups" but its not like they had to spend anything on R & D. The market for old guys buying into nostalgia must being drying up by now. They need to expand out the JM's and Jaguars with modern options and experiment with improvements to the basic bolt-on formula for Tele's and Strats. They are not doing you a favour by having proper QC on a guitar > $3K, Fender are spending all their budget on marketing. Great demo just annoyed at the price.

@@musikus7092 Yes this is the pattern, which would be forgivable if the new line actually had "new" guitars in it. Fender still don't even make the best Strats, haven't played a Silver Sky but my Xotic is better than most custom shop strats.

A block of cheese costs 10$ these days ,makes the guitar seem cheap when you scale that.

This guy's know how to sell you another one guitar that really don't need.After my custom shop Stratocaster 1959 Hevy Relic I really don't need that new vintage shit. This 61 strat sounds not close to a real vintage guitar but looks good like your dream. GAC

Waste of money. Having to detach the neck everytime to adjust the truss rod is a pain in the ass.They're not 100% vintage correct. They come with a modern 5 way switch so why not a modern headstock truss rod adjustment?

only color worth getting for the '61, the other two are so boring.
