This is a recording of today's #anasazi #flute improv practice session, captured with the built-in mics on a Zoom H6 field recorder. I wasn't expecting to make a video from the session, but my very first take resulted in an 8-minute track that really hit me emotionally when I listened to it later on.

The title was inspired by elements of Buddhist & Vedanta philosophy, which essentially teach that liberation is found within, not in the external, physical world (i.e. Samsara). It's a good thought to keep close to the heart. As The Buddha noted, "What one thinks about, one becomes."
The production process was pretty janky; it was a practice session after all. The #tanpura drone is being generated by a phone app played thru a bluetooth speaker! I placed the Zoom H6 on a tripod in the middle of my living room, hit record, and simply sat on the couch and played. Was shocked to hear how great the tanpura drone sounded using such a lo-fi recording technique. Did some light post-processing in Reaper (added a little reverb and delay) and voila!
The flute is a 30-inch Anasazi / Pueblo flute created by Craig Paterson @TempleWindFlutes .
