Most US Popo have a longer response time, especially if the situation is potentially deadly, then It's like 45 minutes to an hour & a half.

Two guys doing one of the most dangerous jobs there is, interrupted by a couple cops.

@@jc5948 spoken like a boot lick.. it isn't trespassing unless it is posted, or if the owners ask you to leave.. neither happened here. I have hedges that I get trimmed. landscaper will knock on the neighbors house to alert them that he will be cleaning up what falls on their side, but if they are not home, the cleanup gets done anyhow... that's NOT trespassing.

Surprised they didn't ask for ID and throw you to the ground. I've pulled larger trees with a heavier hinge over just using a rope winch. It'll barber chair sometimes but I'm on the other end of the rope. You're right about the smaller trees, they seem to have rubber in them or something.

Oak is about the only tree I would have tryed that on . Leaners are the worst to climb . All the new guys in the business would bring in a crane and put a huge price on it . Good on you for saving the homeowner a few thousand bucks .

I have had to do the same with a maple that as two and a half feet in diameter, we used a two ton come along and a log chain ! Rope stretches too bad on huge trees !

They likely have a ring camera that would have recorded the person at the door. When nobody answered, you might have explained what was going on to the closed door, so that they'd know and not phone the police. Criminals often knock first before breaking in.

You never know what the homeowner said to dispatch. They could have said there’s someone in my backyard or they could have said someone’s trying to break in the house you never know the type of call the PD get regardless of what was actually Going on. Some people assume I was there to break in and burn the place down lol other may have seen some form of tree work going on who knows

He’s still same shape. Responding to squeezing and physical input but they keeping him still heavily sedated. CAT scans are showing swelling going down in head. Still way far from the finish line but small good updates so far

If you plan ahead, you can obtain permission from the neighbor before the day of the work. They called the police because you were trespassing on their property. Good job felling with the pull line and wedge! Most guys are not as patient as you were with the tree, and that often leads to unnecessary risk.

Glad they didn't tresspass you immediately, in the middle of that fall. Though I'm sure these cops would have tried to negotiate a temporary stay till you completed the task, I've seen some bad stuff.

I really don’t think this merited any more that what already happened. The neighbors called cause they say movement in backyard. PD came out saw what was going on and no big deal really

The truth is that there are people who don't want you in their property even if you ask so don't just assume it will be OK I wouldn't go on someone else's property even if the person who I am doing the work for says it's OK because it's you that will be going to jail not any one else and if it were my land I would be very mad at my neighbor for giving you permission to go on my land who does he think he is

I was actually pleased that the cops did not ask or demand ID. I hope the cops took note of the name on the truck and wrote a report, just to documrnt. This cop interaction needs to be shown in cop school as an example of how it nedds to happen. Again, pleased to see good cops when the visit could have easily went south.

You don't tell the neighbors that you will be in their yard, you ask for permission to be there.

You being a working man (I'm retired), you probably don't have much time to watch KZread videos of cops demanding ID from everyone they talk with. Getting ID from someone is like an addict trying to get his next fix for so many of them. You did do a great job felling that tree. I practice that a lot on my property. Right now, I have had a lot trees die this past year that have to come down now. I do have one oak that is very old but looks like half the arch in St. Louis.

Fibers. Certain trees will behave differently. Some wood will hinge better than others. Oak is very good hinge wood. This tree was an oak so it has very dense fibers. Something like poplar or ash for example have not so dense fibers and don’t hinge well
