I was just a kid when this was released but after watching it as a grown up it just made me realise the importance of one's motherland, no matter how successful, how rich anyone is but the feeling of going back to the place where one is born and doing something for the people is just like achieving a lot. "Yeh jo des hai tera" is absolutely a gem to listen and to inspire from.

Yes people keep nagging and whining about him doing more like Swades but when he actually does they don't go to theatres and the filmmakers lose money. People need to remember that at the end of the day this is his work and he needs money to flow in order to make such movies. It's such a shame to have an actor like him so underutilized because people want him to do a Veer Zara every year while not aging or changing a bit. Even though Raees was a moderate success it should've been a hit because he displayed an unrivaled passion in acting that role, there isn't one instance when I didn't believe his character as Raees, which was very intensely performed. This I believed is a quite an accomplishment because although he played intense roles or antiheroes they still featured a boyish charm, while Raees was just intimidating and charismatic as hell, something that the audience has never seen from SRK.

You cannot compare a monkey & an elephant by their skills in climbing a tree. Movies like Swades has to be measured by different metrics. Its not meant to be consumed as a crowd in a theatre. I just hope that attention is paid in writing the subtitle and ensure that its well translated in English so that the audience can better understand the dialogues. That being said, I have to sincerely praise you for your wonderful channel. Please don't compare yourself with any other channel as your work is unique. Keep up the good job.

Swades was a masterpiece. I remember going to the theatre with my family and 2 other families to watch the movie. Surprisingly it was my dad's idea, he used to be a movie fanatic in his childhood but lost interest in them during the romantic hero phase, but something about swades pulled him towards it and he made us all go. I was young then and people would think that I only cared for the song yeh tara vo tara (which ofcrs I did and it was my jam) but that's not true, the movie was important and even as a young child I understood that. The movie moved me and I still remember it to this day. You are doing a great job with these videos. It makes me so happy that you're gathering attention towards these gems. Love it. ❤❤❤❤

It's human nature that they do not want a film to be showcasing the topics on silver screen which touches their senses of comfort. Despite being a powerful source of mass media a movie in people's minds is a medium of entertainment only. As written by some critics too, people want to put their daily dilemmas behind and see a 2 or 3 hours of pure entertainment in the theatre instead of watching a thought provoking stories, and this was true for the period the Swades came. However the thinking of the audiences is changing there is still a financial risk factors that lags with a social cause movie, which is indeed the sole purpose for the producers and other stake holders. No matter how mind boggling a movie is, it is been measured with certain norms like star power and mass entertainer, the film with an underlying message dies off people's attention.

I saw both Swades and Lagaan once their original DVDs came out. They are different beasts. While Lagaan is an exhilarating underdog drama, Swades, an initmate social drama, hits more closer to the heart. It is more personal, more internalized and calls for introspection. Comparisons are unfortunate because, to quote Javed Akhtar, "Sab yeh roop hain mehnat ke, Kuch karne ki chahat ke, Kisi ka kisi se koi bair nahin.... " Seedhi baat hain samjho yaara...
