I feel like I missed a moment in history by missing Tilian singing this song.

I could honestly say that I would have been quite happy if Tillian would have joined Emarosa. He is however, fucking great in DGD.

I think dgd was the best band for him, but saosin would have been my second choice with emarosa third tbh

You can tell Tilian wanted this so bad by the smile he had on his face after the ending applause. Any band is lucky to have him do vocals, not only because of his talent, but also because of his sincerity and his dedication and passion.

Tilian has a soft and very high vocal range, while Jonny has more power and vibrato to his that I'm pretty sure everyone would kill for. Tilian did great for his first night, you've got to give the guy some credit. I mean sure it's hard to hit Jonny's high singing notes but Tilain did his best and nailed most of them in his own way while still giving the soul and R&B style to it.

It has already been more than a decade, but I still consider the "Tailored sheets" opening of this song to be the most crucial part of being Emarosa's frontman. Tilian more or less has the power and the range even though he can't do it quite like Jonny. Bradley, on the other hand, could nail Jonny Craig's tone, but he can't pull off Jonny's range.

Tilian is fantastic, just can't get that same tone as Craig on the iconic "tailored sheets" line. It wasn't awful, by any means. He did great with the rest of the song.

Anthony Green would be sick too. But Tilian distorts his voice in a similar way to JC and is a better singer overall imo. Anthony Green is awesome too but his technique isn't as good.

annoys me that he ditched the gritty/raspy sound when he joined DGD. he's one of the few singers who could come close to Jonny in that regard

coldjeanz He said in an interview that he did less rasp and grit in Acceptance Speech because Jon pretty much had it covered. He brought some of it back in Instant Gratification though. Maybe he'll go all out in DGD8?

@JarickL Tilian's got an amazing voice... Check out Tides Of Man, his former band... He has a great vocal range and a truly unique sound.

I kinda like the mess up 4 times in the beginning, he plays it off well as well.

Considering all of Emarosa's songs were built around Jonny's voice, Tilian's doing a pretty fucking amazing job.

Wow, Haters everywhere~ At least Tilian has Jonny range, he may not have the vibratto that Craig does, but, he can do the job better than most of you saying he can't. He may have said tailored 4 times where he shouldn't, but the fact that it's been pointed out shows how much we like to see people fail. Kudos to thee, Tilian.

@pemguinman He's rumored to be with Saosin. Look up " Saosin - Change" not changing. It's fantastic in my opinion.

Tilian is good, no doubt... but I'm waiting for him to ascend to greatness. When paired w/ the great John Mess, it will be hard for him to disappoint.

I can't see how this guy is any more distinctive than Jonny Craig. Craig's got an amazing soulful voice, like a rock version of Michael Jackson in that he can dial in the grit and play around the notes so easily, with or without vibrato. IMO the best rock singer since Chris Cornell. Pearson can hit the notes, but he sounds like Craig Owens, Anthony Green, other good high pitched rock singers, but doesn't have that extra something that sets himself apart from his peers.

@s0nemore wrong. they're singing the same pretty much. their vocals styles are originally very similar regardless.

Let's not forget a few things. Firstly, a lot of Emarosa's songs will have been centred around Jonny's voice. Second, This is live. Jonny would do the better job, but let's not compare it to the recording on the album. Finally, the guy's doing this on short notice. He won't know the songs very well and has to learn all of them, so he can't spend enough time perfect any of them. I respect him, and think he did as good a job as anyone else could've done in his position. Still should've been me.

@thescarletsilence I wholeheartedly agree with you on all fronts. But reading your comment brings up a question: Why was Emarosa + Tilian never an option for a long-term solution? This video shows that both parties work well and they genuinely sound good together. This was always considered a temporary collaboration, just never understood why permanence was never an option. Just a thought.

Tilian didn't have a long time to practice before doing this show. If I recall, it was just a random spur of the moment thing. Regardless, he is a much better vocalist than Jonny. He hits every SINGLE note that Jonny does. He has a much wider vocal range than Jonny. For people saying that he can't hit the notes Jonny does, Tilian hits them dead on. The only difference is their tone. Of course they will have different tones. Tilian is one of the best vocalists out there.

ParabolH Yeah jonny has so much soul into his singing. He also projects more than tillian. The only reason tillian hits those notes is because he has a high pitched voice. Every song that tillian has covered that jonny sung is never the same. He cant come close to jonny’s greatness!

jonny and tilian have different voices dont compare the 2. they both have a unique sound and they both do there thing tilian was just tryna help the band, seriously people stop talkin shit.

I played a show with Tilian once and asked him what was the deal about that and he said he only had like 2 or 3 days of practice with the band.

@lukedemers Plenty, but it doesn't mean I know the lyrics to every song in their set. Not to mention I would probably have trouble remembering them under the stress of filling in for such a popular vocalist.

They should take him! He's be a worthy replacement for sure. And he should pick up a guitar and add awesome stuff :-)

I want to let you know that as a SINGER, I have the UTMOST respect for Jonny, I just happen to like Tillian more, and you like Jonny. Neither of us are wrong, and it is stupid to argue or debate about who is better. At the end of the day, it is a matter of opinion.
