Absolutely, the torturers were expert at making the victim suffer for a long time, nothing can compare with the suffering of Henry's victims and the suffering of any of the kings and queens, who had every comfort and attention possible, so funny to hear that king Henry VIII believed that all his thousands of innocent victims wouldn't matter at the end, when all his misdemeanors would be covered by his " faith " and all would be well, he never expressed sorrow for his murders of the innocent, the destruction and upheaval of the people's ancient faith and tradition.

I love learning about Tudor History since reading the book A CROWN FOR ELIZABETH. And, dying in great pain was not something only the Tudor's experienced. It was common for many, many folks who perished in great pain.

@@silverwiskers7371 I've worked in palliative nursing and it's exactly this reason I support the campaign for legalised " Right to die" movement....people should be able to choice a death with dignity at the time of their choice. I'm so sorry that your friend may not have been given the correct level of care as he should have had fentinol and sedation to make him as peacefull as possible....BUT I agree that in some cases that isn't enough....and they are very reluctant to put the dying into a medically induced coma....x

Elizabeth I sat for so many spectacular portraits! I would really love to see an arrangement of them in chronological order. I find it surprising and (somewhat) interesting that even though she'd been disembowelled and embalmed her corpse still exploded inside her coffin, just as her father's had done. She was always portrayed as slender and for some time at the end of her life she was said to be frail and had not been eating or drinking, so there probably wasn't much to her in that state. That Henry VIII exploded is not surprising.

I had uterine cancer and endometriosis, and uterine fibroid tumors. I've always felt that she had exactly that. The "phantom pregnancies", where her belly swelled and she stopped bleeding. Same happened to me (not the phantom pregnancies obviously) but the stopped periods and the swollen (as if pregnant) belly) I believe the fibroud tumors are what made her belly seem pregnant. And she stopped bleeding, suffered pain with both endometriosis and the fibrous tumors.

Polycystic ovaries can effect fertility because we don't ovulate regularly. I've had it since I was 10. Honestly I always thought she had endometriosis, which also can effect fertility. So pcos is a random thing, some months your have several that grow and rupture, but other times you can go months without them. Endometriosis seems to cause regular extremely painful periods and swelling belly, and Mary was known for her painful monthly cycles. If it's that regular, it's usually endometriosis. (I'm not saying one is more painful then the other. My friend with endometriosis had a cyst rupture a few days ago and was vomiting from the pain and had to go to emergency. I just deal with the pain, because otherwise I'd have spent most of my life running back and forth to the hospital. Of course I've watched my sister with endometriosis literally go into shock from the pain while on her period. I think it's just different types of pain, one more acute then other long and not letting up) That being said, you can have both, which is a terrifying thought.

People get pain relief from morphine as death is coming. They also can be given meds to reduce saliva because of the loss of the power to swallow. They can also be given a laxative for constipation since even if not eating or drinking, they should evacuate their bowels every two to three days. I got all that from the Hospice nurse on KZread. She does question and answer videos on KZread.

Henry the eighth had a jousting accident many years before he died he suffered a lot with the pain in his leg his heir to the throne was first lady Jane grey and done she was beheaded for some stupid reason and then Mary became queen she was the first born of Henry’s with his first wife Catherine of Aragon then when he got with Anne Boleyn they had a daughter together named Elizabeth. And Elizabeth was on the throne for 57 or six years she was on it for a long time

Ashley the first one to get thrown after Henry died was his only son by the wife he has a third wife and she just died of like complications from childbirth so they her young son who was 10 or 12 at the time became the king and then he became ill he was kind of a sickly little boy anyway but he would name Jane Grey as his Successor

The net effect being no Elizabethan Age, and the Stuarts began one generation earlier? I admit I don't know the timing quite right, but was that before Henry was so vehemently anti-Catholic? It makes me wonder if the religious bloodshed between Edward VI, Mary, and Elizabeth might have been less, and the transition maybe more gradual and less absolute. I know Henry in his later years was very absolute, and so was Edward, definitely, and Bloody Mary was equally absolute and intolerant in her Catholicism. The Scots were Catholic, but Protestant-curious at the time. Could it have been less violent? How much was the intolerance the result of Henry inculcating his son Edward with his anti-papist absolutism? Edward left a great journal of his opinions and ideologies on the matter, and without Daddy being the chief champion for the cause... I just wonder.

@@beenaplumber8379 Mary's mother wasn't Margaret Tudor, it was a French woman named Marie de Guise. I believe Henry actually inquired about taking her as a wife. Mary's father was James V, Margaret and James IV's son, so Henry was her grand uncle. Now James V, Margaret Tudors son could have probably taken the throne.

They were not painful deaths unlike their victims.

If you look at some of the portraits of his father they look the same. It is probably just the artists interpretation. If you look at the profile portraits of Edward they look perfectly formed.

Jealous, I would say, Henry respected no one and had loyalty to no one , the only thing would have approved was her many executions and her greed for gold .

The tudors should never have been in power, it was meant to be the Hastings family, so good old Lizzie shouldn’t be sat on the throne now, this has been proven through family trees and birth dates!

Henry VII didn’t have Warbeck executed immediately. He gave him the chance to be part of the court. After Warbeck tried to escape he was executed.

People who belong to the Anne Bolyne Society call Henry VIII a murderer for having her executed. But one thing that they don't look at or acknowledge is that according to the law of the time, Anne Bolyne DID commit Treason according to the law of the court and rightly according to that law was rightly executed because the law stated that ANYONE being in possession of the Scripture and Teaching book of Martin Luther was deemed as committing Treason and be sentenced to Death by Execution, and among Anne Bolyne's belongings after her execution was a copy of the book, so even if she did not commit adultery as accused, she was guilty of Treason according to the law of the time and would have been executed anyway for being in possession of the Martin Luther book.

However, that was not the reason she was executed. In addition, Thomas Cromwell, the man who some believe was instrumental in getting Anne executed, was an Evangelical anti-Catholic who was largely responsible for the destruction of the monasteries throughout England. Anne Boleyn was executed based on false and outrageous accusations that probably even the King himself thought were baseless. Many believe Henry VIII wanted to get rid of Anne in order to marry another woman who was meeker, younger, and more likely to produce a male heir. Anne's last 2 pregnancies resulted in miscarriages and she'd only given him a daughter, Elizabeth, who later became one of England's best monarchs.

So even if she was found not guilty of Adultery, they would have searched her Chambers as a Prisoner and found her book, which would have then seen her executed for Treason. Henry did have a say in her execution, Commuting her Sentence down from Burning At the Stake to Beheading, as seen as a more lenient Execution. But if she had been found not Guilty of Adultery and had been found Guilty of being in possession of the Martin Luther book, Henry would have had no choice but to sentence her to Burning At the Stake, as that was the only sentence for Heracy at the time under the law.

@@lisaa.4667 While Anne was Prisoner in the Tower the King's Men would have searched through her belongings if the Adultery Trial had been not guilty because Thomas Cromwell wanted to discredit her, so they would have found the Martin Luther book sooner and she would have been found guilty of Treason for having the book in her possession. Don't forget, it was Anne who pushed Henry on to split from the Catholic Church, even though he stayed a Catholic and took Mass on his deathbed. The Kings men would have looked through her belongings while she was in custody at the Tower, which is how when she was executed, it was found that she had the book. If their attempt at adultery had been refused they would have found the book and not to look weak, Henry would have had no choice but to accept the Treason charge. As to his request to commute her sentence to Beheading, he would again been given no choice, because having a copy of Luthers book was legally Heracy, he wouldn't have been able to commute her sentence and not look weak, so he would have had to accept the sentence of Death by Burning as a Heretic.
