All in lol
Arjun had so many misses this year but he was constantly among the top in most tournaments he played this year, 1st at Sharjah, 5th at Qatar (could've easily been 1st if not for a rook blunder), 4th at Grand Swiss, 2nd at Gashimov Memorial, tied 1st at Chennai Grandmasters, 15th at World Rapid and 6th at Blitz and in both these events he was among the leaders from start so only faced top players. He was close to getting the Circuit spot too, it's only a matter of time before he get his big break and win a tournament like this.

Don't forget the World Cup beating Pragg in the first round and only needing a draw in the 2nd. So close. His year could've been so different
even after feeling devasted he pulled himself together and arranged pieces

Arjun smiled at the end though he was devastated, very sporty gesture
levon was so calm from start but in the end he turned into a freaking beast! bros truly incredible and titling losing games into win, hes speciality
I just realized the endgame is the most important part of the game to study and learn. This is where games are won or lost, because the dwindling time clock is a huge factor.

Молодец, что нашел в себе силы улыбнуться после такого поражения!!! Уважение
Both Arjun and Aronian are great players.
As somepony who blundered in a totally won position and lost that classical game, i can absolutely relate.
So close yet so far for arjun this year
crazy he did not give a check at the end - he even had 5sec time to think about it. also Aronian blundered moving that pawn. actually it was a draw. but then 2 blunders and the last one quite shocking - like a mate in 1
At the end there instead of RxN, isn't Rg3+ holding for black?
Αronian had to leave fast in order to be able to hide his feelings -he is probably somewhere there still jumping out of joy !!
Thats was a crazy game xD
Very nice game 👌👌
When Levon saw that his opponent was disappointed and didn't seem to want to talk after the match, he left immediately
There's something I don't understand with these clocks. The increment is 2 secs/move, but it seems to add +1 most of the time. How come it appears as this?
@Luciano-nv8kp
5 ай бұрын
the clock doesn't show the decimals, imagine this 2 examples: 1 - you hit the clock at 00:03.1 -> the clock will become 00:05.1 and, after 0.2 seconds, it will show 00:04 on screen; 2 - you hit the clock at 00:03.9 -> the clock will become 00:05.9 and, after 1.0 second, it will show 00:04 on screen. notice that, in both cases you gain 2 secs, it's just visual

No chance. He won't get past Nordibek, Alireza or even Prag...
he missed that Aroian will promote with check also missed that queen is unstoppable >>that happens no big problem chess is loss and gain and Arjun Erigaisi is agenius player
this is the level of blunder i do
arjun thought the queen promotion could be just ok thinking that he could fork it. what he missed was his King was under checked

5:59 white played h4?! and had to play Ng3-Nf1-Ne3 with advantage. At the very end, when black played . ...g2, whute had check Rg3+ and he then could capture passed pawn on g2 and make black "earn his meal" as Nakamura streamet would have said.

At 8:25 what if Knight e7+
Levon with the standard neck work out every game
it is only a game. He still had better result overall and more prize money than Aronian For chess players playing is work and they are very lucky if they can earn nice living with it as well. Who would mind to earn 20 000+ dollars per two days work ? Very few people in the world are able to do that.
No post game analysis between the two
He could have put his rook behind the pawn and it would check the black king. Then he had material advantage. That was a big miss.

8:53 At this point, maybe Arjun should just give a check instead of taking the knight. It will help more in preventing the pawn from being promoted.

He didn't see that his king was on d4 . If king was not there , Arjun has some great winning chance. He immediately notices that after his move . You can see his reaction which he did after his move. If he saw his king on d4 then he would have found Rg3 and he was also low on time
@AndiZ23

Rg3 would still lose. After Black plays Kh7, White still cannot stop Ra1, forcing loss of White's rook, because N on h4 protects the pawn and Ra1 covers the queening square. White can check a few more times, but provided Black doesn't allow Ng6 with check which distracts Black's Knight, Black still wins. It's super complex, not just a simple oversight that Black could queen with check.
