The Overlooked Assassin Who Nearly WIPED OUT The Templar Order
Ойындар
The Assassin's Creed is full of many deadly, legendary assassins who dealt crippling blows to the Templars throughout the centuries. However, one that I feel is heavily overlooked due to his limited screen presence, is from the French Brotherhood during the 14th century, where he appears at the beginning of Assassin's Creed Unity. His name is Thomas De Carneillon and his impact on the Brotherhood and thorough eradication of the Templar Order landed him legendary status for centuries to come...Let's put some respect on the name of this overlooked legend...

think their biggest mistake was making Thomas appear at the beginning for a few minutes and then NEVER bring him up again despite what he was so close to achieving, that being so close to ending the entire order right there, something that very few others had got that far to begin with they really should've just stayed with Thomas a little longer instead of using him as some scapegoat

One of my biggest frustrations in Unity was: 1) the Thomas de carneillon “armor” is just an outfit 2) that they didn’t include really anything from his life in the story with the exception of foreshadowing that there would be another sage that followed de Molay

I agree. Im a fan of darker color schemes in general but ive always felt that black or even darker gray shades would fit better with assasins and their whole stealth dynamic. Not only would they blend in with the crowd they'd blend with the night as well should they need to and plus it's just beyond badass. Hell in games where you can wear black i tend to. I wear the black outfit in AC3, the Dark Assassin outfit in Rogue, that weird but cool black cloak Edward can get in AC4, Altair's armor in AC2, etc.

I'm happy you're discussing how underrated Thomas de Carneillon is compared to Altair and Ezio. While many assassins aim to stop the Templar Order and restore peace, Thomas took a more extreme approach by wanting to eliminate everyone in the Order.

Finally somebody covered Thomas de Carneillon's legacy in the Brotherhood. The dude paved the way to the whole Brotherhood of Assassin to establish a fighting force against the Templar Order across Europe. Even shared stories with the Auditore Family's legacy as well and yet, he only showed up once in his peak in Unity. Such an interesting story to follow but probably one that we will never see to be told since the series has gone way off its plot now.

I just want to play as the opening Templar in Unity. Imagine playing as someone who starts as a seemingly noble knight only to then be hunted by everyone thanks to this black clad assassin. It could be really cool.
I freaking loved that opening. I actually didn't know he had a name but I loved his outfit and it's easy to see how dope he is

Honestly having a game about the fall of the templars back in the day would be amazing, like more than likely its the last mission for the game that leads to unity give or take an epilogue or so for a little more info but leading up to that point. Would def be a hardcore version since templars are literally at the peak of their power.
Honestly, I want a game where you play as the Templars. The closest we actually got to it was AC: Rogue which, in my opinion, was a breath of fresh air into the franchise. Actually getting an inner look into the workings of the Templar Order through the eyes of one of it's own members throughout the game, I think, if done right, could be a fantastic spin on things.
I might go more in depth with this another time but what I love most about AC is the legacies. It's so amazing how a large amount of people have an impact on the overarching story one way or another whether it be big or large.
Love your video and keep up the great work. You are awesome, and can you do who the best side characters if you haven't

@@JohnMarston26 3:02. Listen again and realize how what you said was wrong in the same vein as the narrator.
It would have been cool to play as Thomas in different points of his life through sections that would be unlocked in Unity, like with the different regions and time periods we went through as we progressed through Unity's story.
It's funny you upload this a few days after i restarted a Unity playthrough. It only occurred to me on this 4th or 5th playthrough ive done just how significant this assassin was. It's the first time i've replayed the game since playing Valhalla and when you realise just how strong the Templar Order would become across the world between the events of Valhalla and Unity's intro. I too came to the same conclusion that this Assassin and the French Brotherhood he was a part of were probably the most significant part of Assassin history that literally changed the world. In future games set after the events of Unity, they really should prop up those Assassins responsible for almost wiping the Templars off the face of the planet and forcing remnants into hiding.
Yet again, spot on the money! I loved his side story, and his armor is my favourite also! I could enjoy a game on it's own. What an entry it was to get into Unity!
Gotta say after altair his robes is beyond good Like a black version of altair (good for night missions) but also have some paddings for extra armor and still kept the look of the robes of the creed and have to say some pattern on his robes just add more to the drip
That scene is imprinted in my mind. One of the coolest moments in AC. I liked the dark medieval aspect of it. It would be a nice prequel concept to Unity.
I've always loved the robes this guy had, the brown version of the Altair robes.
“He even had drip!” That is such an understatement he has the best looking robes ever!
I think a game set during his time would be amazing, Like maybe he could be an apprentice who started his career as an assassin at the same time as the mc, and you would actually be close to him and, as a result, have some kind of competition with him. That really would be great.
Idk why, but I love this video.
This is still my favorite, most intriguing intro, and they've done nothing with it since. In general I'd personally love another large city Assassins Creed with baked lighting that pushed the visuals, presentation, and parkour like Unity did.
A game with this guy would be a good way to go back to the roots
Having some form of connection to him within Project Hexe would be cool.
Superb 💙⚔️
Man was so badass, they built a whole vault to hold his fit.
Yes, I would definitely play that game
Please make videos on modern assassination technique.
I know Hexe is supposed to be set a couple hundred years later but there could be some more mentions of him in that game
I almost forgot about him, they should add his outfit to ac mirage it’s basically a more colorful version of Altairs outfit love it
I played Unity for the first time when I was 12 years old and I remember going through a phase where I based my whole personality around this guy so I acted all mysterious and cool lol
I’m my opinion I wish there was a game about him set in this time, I would love to play as him in his own game
He was a true assassin. Made a huge impact, and yet no one no one knows his name
we need a Thomas de carneillon game in medieval france leading to the point he attacks the Temple but on the assassin's side. and post story missions where we get to see more parts of europe as he is hunting the templars
I think a game about him would be really fun and cool
They should have given us more time with this character, could've served as a link to the revolution era we play in, in Unity
This Assassin needs his own game
We need a full game of him.
They NEED to make a game about this guy
His backstory should be whilst he was a banker he was ambushed by a knight errant (which is a rouge knight) and then he is saved by an assassin Thomas helps in the battle the assassin tells Thomas he was going to cash in a check for money but then had to help after this Thomas asks him who he is the assassin introduces himself and then the assassin tells him about the creed and then Thomas joins as he had shown his worthiness and after some training earns his hidden blade

Btw the templars had invented the earliest known banking and would write checks to merchants trying to travel so and when they reached their destination they would go to a Templar bank thing and then would receive the amount given on the piece of paper
I haven't played Unity since it came out, and I don't even remember this guy. That being said, I think it would be awesome to see a game with him as the main protagonist. He sounds like he was far more impressive that some of the protagonists we've had since Unity.
The fact that we or anyone in game knows much about him, already proves that he was one of the greatest assasins.
Thomas aka Altair black was incredible 😊
If he ever does get a game about him,i hope itll be one of if not the best ac game here is

I've always wanted him to have his own game
The most underrated and underdeveloped character of all time for who he was and what he did.
We need a full game
I wish we can have a game about Thomas and explore more
When the game when unity was popular or like an add-on because that’s when they knew how to make good video games with the parkour system, the assassination, the fighting style it would’ve been perfect
i want more templar games since shay was really fun going against the assassins it was definitely one of the least known of the games
I really hope that Ubisoft makes a game on him i really enjoyed his outfit even though it is like Altair outfit
Interesting that the assassins back during the era of Altair reflected the area they were based in….
They could literally make a saga with this guy as the protagonist.
Someday we will probably get a game where we play as him.
Remember, Domenico Auditore said that the assassins oppose *rulers*, not just templars. No rulers, no masters. A lot of people seem to forget this and think the assassin's *only* oppose the templars, which is blatantly false.
The High Middle Ages is one of the greatest time periods for an Assassin's Creed title in my opinion, and the number of historical figures and events that would take place shortly after the downfall of the Templars, would have been perfect to explore in a full-fledged game. I've imagined that Ubisoft could make a full game out of this, if not a Trilogy like they did with Ezio, and given ( from what I've seen at least ) how the High Middle Ages is a time period many fans of the franchise want to see, it has a great deal of potential, especially with the inclusion of historical characters, like King Philip IV, who was known for his tyrannical rule, and being honest, seems to be the complete opposite of what the Assassin Brotherhood stands for, as well as Marco Polo as you mentioned, and Domenico Auditore, as he was the founder of the Auditore family. Another thought could have been playing in the High Middle Ages, after the Death of Jacque de Molay, most notably in Portugal, from the Templar Perspective... ( Because while I did like Rogue, I thought it did not perfect the concept of following the Templar ideology ) ...as while the remnants of the Templars were hunted down and eradicated across Europe, King Denis of Portugal, had refused any words from Philip regarding the Templars, and notably welcomed them to Portugal and reformed them as the Military Order of Christ, which does still exist today, but any thoughts of them still being a continuation of the Templar Order, is unlikely, but how this order of chivalry came to be, and how the Templars would slowly begin their recovery by taking refuge in Portugal, could also be worth exploring.
Honestly a story I would love to see with Thomas, is him hunting down the last of the templars maybe the last remnant of the knights Templar. The leader of the remnant is desperately searching for a piece of Eden relic and the leader finds the temple underneath a port city called caffa which is located in the republic of Genoa. Caffa is undersieged by the mongol empire but this doesn’t stop the templars and the assassins from investigating the temple. Thomas de carniellion investigates this but is to late to stop the Templars from obtaining what was locked in the temple. However, the temple was keeping an artifact hidden, it was holding back a plague. There was no ancient power, there was only death, every one laid witness to this and the city of caffa came to ruin because of this plague. The plague was able to spread with the help of rats that was present at caffa and because of them, all of Europe and most of Asia was in danger. Thomas de carneillion travels around mainly Paris cause it was able to handle the plague somehow, but he travels to other kingdoms and countries as he tries to find a cure. I call it Assassins Creed: Ruin or Assassins creed: Black Death or Assassins creed: plague idk lol
Where’s the gameplay taken from? Which game? Is that unity? It’s been years.. at 2:08 time
I need an answer to this now since I haven't touched the game once I beat it, but does ac unity have a new game or new game + mode? It wasn't there in the beginning (from what I saw) hence why I only played it once.
Could you make a video on AC The lost temple? The comic that follows Edward's adventures after BF is AMAZING! And Noa truly makes for an interesting modern day protagonist too❤
