The OTHER Time Cruisers LEGO Board Game

Ойын-сауық

It’s far from the first LEGO Board Game or even the first LEGO Time Cruisers Board Game, but this surprisingly elaborate LEGO World Club magazine promotional game is certainly one of the most unique items in my collection! Set your Hypno Discs to the 90s as we travel back in time to 1997 and the lore of Space, Castle, Western, Divers, and of course, Time Cruisers and Time Twisters. They say don’t bet your future on one roll of the dice…but this time, you may have to!
I made this video partially as a sort of companion piece to ‪@RRSlugger‬ 's fantastic review of the original Time Cruisers Board Game; be sure to check that out here:

Please check out the Time Cruisers resource at the Emily Internet Zone for more info on the Time Cruiser comics and the LEGO World Club. This is the source for the fan translations seen in the video, and is now the host of the scans of the game elements and rules as well!

The EIZ is also now home to the scans of the game elements and rules if you want to play! Try not to break the time-space continuum!

I can't believe I'm watching this video right now!! I had given up on ever seeing this board game demonstrated or preserved and you achieved both masterfully! Thank you so much for doing this! ❤ I hope other folks watching can understand how *incredibly rare and poorly documented* this board game was - it was essentially lost media, to an extent! 😮 I also got a kick out of seeing things I had never noticed before, such as the Time Cruiser logo at 1:48 with the Time TWISTERS atop it - never knew that existed! You really outdid yourself here, LoreEscape. 👏

Thank you! I am honored and speechless. :) I was surprised myself to find it pretty much complete and in good condition--someone must have really liked it! There do seem to have been at least a few countries where there was no different terminology for the two teams, weirdly enough...

Never underestimate how much Time Cruisers stuff is scattered throughout the timeline, lol.

Wow, this was such a nostalgia trip for me. Thank you for making this video and linking to the scans. I used to have this game as a kid, and I could remember every single card! Back then, we quickly figured out that the space zone was the easiest and the castle zone was the hardest, so everyone would try getting to the other zones first so that you would not have to struggle with getting the codes from the castle zone.

That's awesome! A lot of the interest I've seen around this game comes from those of us who loved the Time Cruisers theme as kids but only saw small parts of this game here and there online years and years later. You're one of the few people I've heard from who actually played it back then. I could tell this game would inspire some fun strategies; it's great to hear that kids were enjoying it. :)

This was wonderful! I really hope you do the entire Time Cruisers lore breakdown! It's my favorite theme and I have always been curious what story is told on those German audio tapes!

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! :) A lore breakdown for Time Cruisers is definitely in the works. That's going to be quite the undertaking as it's pretty unique in that the lore starts well before and ends well after the theme itself did! Fortunately, due to the nature of the theme, you'll see the characters pop up in a good number of these lore videos in any case. ;)

Thank you so much for watching, it's an honor to have you here! I'd love to hear any recollections you might have of creating the game; it's more elaborate and imaginative than any other LEGO board game from that decade.

This is an incredible video! I never would have guessed this existed, and I grew up with the RoseArt game. Sounds like an exciting spin on the Time Cruisers formula and I love the alternate artwork for the LEGO characters and scenes. Thanks for sharing in the video and the scans!

Great video! Very interesting watch and now I'm intrigued to try the game. I really appreciated the lore on the series in the introduction as well as the explanation on the magazine origins. Thanks for showing this off. I hope you do more in future, incredible work!

Thank you so much! I'm indebted to a whole online community of AFOLs who have done a ton of work in scanning, translating, and hosting the magazines for about a decade now. :) I hope you find the scans helpful in trying out the game, let me know how it goes! I'm still working on videos every day; but I don't get to spend as much time as I would like to post regularly. Definitely more to come!

Right? Maybe the name plays better in German, but it's not a case of translation weirdness; that's literally how it appears in the instructions and character card. 😆

I never knew there was a second Time Cruisers board game, awesome. I had the old one from RoseArts and it was the only Time Cruisers set I ever got. Still wish I hadn't missed out on the sets.

That one saw so much play in our house that it's pretty much falling apart at this point. :) The Time Twister figure in that set was probably one of the coolest in the theme.
