Ойын-сауық

I believe I understand MacDonald's vision and I will contrast it with Pete Carroll. Pete was in his comfort zone playing a field position game. Keep the score close, win the kicking game, and take the lead in the fourth quarter. Pete liked to run the ball to set up play action, because in fact, the only explosive aspect of Pete Carroll's offense came from the play-action pass. This ISN'T a bad philosophy. Just check out who won the second most games of the decade from 2010 to 2020. I believe that Russell Wilson held some type of record for the most wins in his first 100 starts. Something like that, I can't remember the specific details. Regardless, it was a consistent winning formula for Pete, and it is why he never abandoned it and why he retained his job for nearly fifteen years. It initially worked because his defensive studs were so good when the other team reached the Red Zone. Carroll's best defenses weren't necessarily great at denying yards, but they were historically great at denying points. Pete's field position game is symbiotic with that. Conversely, MacDonald wants to get off to a big lead. He wants to do this because it puts the opposing offense into predictable passing downs. Predictable passing downs are where his "disguised blitz" scheme really shines. Really, really shines. When an opponent is forced to predictably throw, it really opens up his defensive playbook. Hence, holding a double-digit lead in the second half is MacDonald's dream. Last year, his Ravens embarrassed the Seahawks and Lions by getting a huge early lead and then unleashing his second half defense on an opponent that was predictably forced to throw. Additionally, MacDonald's defensive emphasis for the first half will be winning first down. Consistently create second and long. This is not Pete Carrol's "bend but don't break and we will ultimately stop them when the field shortens up" ideology. This is about disruption and penetration to win on first down and create predictable passing situations. This is EXACTLY what MacDonald means when he says, "moving the line of scrimmage". He wants tackles for loss or no gain on first down so that he can utilize disguised blitz on second and long. A predictable passing down. MacDonald doesn't want close wins while using Carroll's post-game rally spiel, " Can you win the game in the first quarter?". MacDonald actually believes that you can win the game in the first quarter. His defense works best with a lead, and he wants the lead for as often as possible.

@@aidankeller1717 Thanks. My dad used to say to me, "Spoken words dissipate into thin air, but written words will last forever." The point he was trying to make was that your legacy is created from the written, not spoken word. He was trying to impress upon me the importance of acquiring writing skills. It was a critical professional attribute a half century ago. Unfortunately, technology has turned that axiom on its head. You effectively reach people with uploaded spoken words now and those associated videos can be archived forever. Now, it is the public libraries that are closing and the magazines that are going bankrupt. Books have evolved into "audiobooks". In today's world, it is the spoken word that reigns supreme. That is why "great grammar" is a rarity. The most common thing I read now is "LOL" followed by 3-4 laugh emojis. A testimony to our times. And a pity. The compliment is appreciated.

After I looked it up, this is what I was referencing about Russell Wilson: "While other quarterbacks reached 100 wins faster in terms of starts-Wilson ranks fourth there-players ahead of him on that list didn't start as rookies, and only Wilson and Peyton Manning, who won his 100th game in the 10th game of his 10th season, have reached 100 wins in their first 10 seasons."

Thank you for the analysis, it opened my eyes. What you are really describing, I think, is how the game itself has evolved from a battle with broadswords into one of a fencing match.

Last 2 years at udub Grubb didn't have that explosive back. Championship game against Michigan our average back was hurt, so basically we had no running game which brought in McDonald's defensive brand take that game over. Having a back like Walker changes everything. Imagine a Walker type talent playing with udub last last year. I'm so stoked, the Seahawks have great minds and possibly innovators at coordinators. If Mcndonald can keep the team together and believe...it's gonna be exciting!!!!

The most interesting part of Grubbs offense is that (excepting the championship) for pretty much 8 out of 10 critical plays Grubb had Husky players right where they needed to be and the defense out of position

Mac and his squad should scare teams this team will be very good. Carroll is a treasure always but his mind is outdated its time for a new paint job. Niners should be careful against us its a dream but could become a reality. Adding Leslie Frazier is awesome.

Grub made the Huskies really fun to watch but the reaction times are going to be quicker. I'm looking forward to see how it opens things up for KW3, not just receivers. It's going to force Geno to play at his best.

I been busy with work but the Seahawks schedule is interesting because I can see seattle going 12 and 5 or 11 and 6 upside wise. But being realistic seattle can go 9 and 8, 7 and 10 or 8 and 9. Reason why that my floor is that seattle is too talented to lose more than 8 games. If it did happen it because they got injured, the players took a little bit longer to get both the offensive and defensive schemes, or geno and howell aren't effective playing the qb position. Geno could regress showing his age and Sam is just a qb who is what he is. But if that happen seattle will be bad enough to draft ewers, sanders. Beck, Leonard, milroe etc. I believe that seattle will take some time to learn Macdonald scheme. If haynes, oluwatimi, and Tomlinson gell inside while cross and Lucas turn into pro bowl tackles it will help the running game and passing offense. It will make k9, charbonnet, and McIntosh more lethal. While grubb uses jsn, dk and lockett in creative ways. While Murphy turns into to a disruptive force and knight surprises seahawks fan as he becomes a fred warner type. But honestly i feel seattle is a couple players away but with the media not hyping seattle help turns seattle into who they should have been last season..I feel that if geno plays not that great I can see howell coming in and not giving back the job. Grubb will use every weapon seattle has and Macdonald will improve the defense it a matter of how long and how many season will it take to turn seattle back into a contender. I feel teams in the NFC west hope it takes seattle a couple years but seattle is starting remind me of san fran when they draft bosa. Once it happened the niner started to win and if Murphy is as advertised i could see Murphy effecting seattle in the same way bosa did with san fran. It just won't surprise me if seattle starts slow just to get hot in November and December.. I'm excited for August just to see how different Macdonald is compared to carroll

Good content for introducing those Hawks fans that aren't familiar with *Ryan Grubb's (you called him Ben at the end of the video) offensive scheme. You also keep messing up Rome's last name over and over again. Idk where you get the "E-A" from, but it's simply "Oh-dune-zay". Hope this helps & keep up the good work and keep teaming up w/ Dan Veins! 😊

Is Seattle going to change their establish the O line running game? I'd hate to see them waste the RB talent. Kenny McIntosh would thrive in a Grub offense.

Run&shoot is NOT the precursor to the Air Raid. Other than passing alot they're not the same conceptually at all really. 70s/80s BYU and Bill Walsh 49ers are the precursor to Air Raid

If the oline struggles again, it’s time to move on from the gm JS. There is only one question mark with this team and it’s the oline. Both Grubbs and McDonald like to confuse the opposing teams. Offenses don’t know what the defense is doing under McDonald and defenses don’t know what the offense is doing under Grubbs. Seahawks will be built on confusion lol. I’m not worried about the defense with McDonald and I’m not worried about position players or qb on offense. The only concern is the oline and it’s a major, major concern! Don’t matter how great Grubbs and the players are if the oline sucks

I think 2-3 years is his window. Next years draft will have guys who can fill any holes we have after we see how the team goes on both sides this year. But it’s the first year with a new offense and defense and coaches. You can’t expect everyone to have it the first year. It’d be nice but it’s still new.
