    Great review on glycolic acid; thank you. I just started spritzing white vinegar on my armpits (and use it as an all over body spray after showering) then apply a favorite essential oil or perfume; it's bloody amazing. I have no body odor and my added scents last longer and smell better (cleaner). Serendipity is a good thing. White vinegar dries without odor. Apple cider vinegar, on the other hand, is very pungent, and I prefer consuming it in a drink. Oh, also, white vinegar is great spritzing in the mouth to maintain fresh breath (taste similar to lemon citrus). Cheers--

    I’m a Stridex gal - been using it daily for years - and I know it’s a BHA not an AHA but I use it on my armpits in between waxing sessions and I even use it behind my ears and on the back of my neck where my hair oil builds up and can cause breakouts and cysts.

    I recently discovered that I have ichtyosis (thought it was eczema for 30 years because of the doctor that told so to my mom when i was born, duh), and before i even heard about that illness, i watched a video where you spoke about TO. I decided to try glycolic acid, just because youuuuu told us it was fantastic, and that was the BEST thing that ever happened to my skin!... Right after that, i watched a video from Dr. Drey while i was looking for answers about my ichtyosis and she said glycolic acid was helpful for that type of skin condition.... omg every pieces of the puzzle were together! Now I use TO glycolic acid once every two days, alternating with TO lactic acid (not to irritate my skin too much) and i use the Naturium Smoother glycolic acid exfoliating body wash, and i do not struggle with my skin anymore. Thank you so much 😢😢❤❤ my life has changed and i am more confident now that you are in my life, 😘

    The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution is not typically recommended for removing hyperpigmentation in armpits. I have found the formulation is not designed for such delicate skin and can cause irritation or other adverse reactions, as my patients have reported. It is generally better to use a product specifically formulated for the underarms, such as DermalMD Intimate Lightening Serum. I have recommended this product to patients, and it has been proven to be effective at reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation, discoloration, and other skin imperfections in the underarm area. I hope this informs you all, since every skin type is different!

    It can be used with retinol and retinoids. IF your skin can handle it. There's no like, ingredient conflict here. Dr. Shereene Idriss uses AHA and then Adapalene in the same night routine. I personally use tretinoin every night and The Ordinary glycolic acid every 2nd night. I could use it every night, but I like to alternate it with serums/ampules, and they contain peptides, and direct acids can break up the peptides and make them into something else, so, don't really want that!

    Deodorants and antiperspirants have never worked for me, I hated the smell of them and I felt like they just made the BO smell worse, so when I heard Michelle from Lab Muffin Beauty Science recommend using this product under the arms I hopped right on that train since I was already using it for my face. I've been using it daily as a replacement for deodorant for a few years now and it works incredibly well for me, unless I forget it my underarms basically don't smell at all. I don't shave so that's never been an issue, and I've never had an issues with irritation or overexfoliation, everyone's skin is different but it's what works for me

  • @Siberius-

    @Siberius-

    25 күн бұрын

    Deodorant is just to mask the smell with a different smell. A tip with antiperspirant (that I got from Dr Dray on youtube) is that it works best if you apply it the night before, and then it will be ready for the next day. It takes time to sink into the pores and properly do it's thing, it's not instant, especially if you're going to sweat shortly after applying it, it's just way too soon and you're going to have a bad time. That's a handy comment. I have been using benzoyl peroxide (BP) 5% wash on my armpits every shower for years now, and that works REALLY well. But, now I'm going to try glycolic acid instead (I have already been using The Ordinary one on my face for years). The issue with BP is that it's fine if you shave your arms, it's won't bleach anything (as BP does), does it gets washed off. BUT, if you have hair there, the BP will soak into the hair and then particularly when you sweat, it will bleach your shirts, your bed sheets, etc. Not a SINGLE video exists online (or popular skincare creators talking about this use) has mentioned this. It's just this massive blind spot they collectively have, because they don't have hair under their arms lol. But anyway, hopefully the glycolic acid will work nicely. Just wondering how to best apply it. Could do a spray bottle, but I don't know if it will get past the hair effectively. How do you do it? also do you do it while the underarms are still wet after your shower, or do you go in dry? how much do you use? do you apply it every morning? do you hit it with the hair dryer to steed things up or just air dry? Hopefully it's not sticky, since it can be a little sticky on the face.

    @@nyxh.7567 - I started using glycolic acid and I was going to use it in a spray bottle next time, yea. If it goes onto dry skin, it seems to be much less sticky than wet or damp skin. My instinct was to "help" dry it down with a hair dryer, but that would likely remove the water content and just leave stickiness that then can't sink into the skin as effectively, making it worse, maybe, so yea I'll just be leaving it like you do. The first time I tried it I had no smell at all for 5-6 days, but then I realised the effects of the former Benzoyl Peroxide method was still also in effect (which once kept me with no smell for 3 days, without any showers lol), so I need more time to see how the glycolic acid performs (with a good enough application that will work).

    I've been doing this for years now, but when I sweat, it stains my shirts and bed sheets. I think it gets soaked into the hair is the issue. People who shave their under arms don't have this issue at all. What has your experience been with that? I'm going to try glycolic acid instead, and hopefully it works well, because benzoyl peroxide sure works well.

    I've been using it for years and I struggle to notice it doing anything. Can apply it every day like it's water. Some people's skin is just totally fine with certain things (but then sometimes freak out about something else). I started tretinoin and, nothin'. I Just use glycolic acid to better break down that "glue" between the dead skin cells, so as I can more effectively use a peeling gel in the shower to collect it all up. My skin just suckkkks at getting rid of dead skin cells! so it's no wonder the glycolic acid wasn't doing shit (from what I could tell), because the dead skin cells were still there, just, looser. That just my skin issue though. Took me 10 years to figure this out lol.
