Lovely -very interesting too. I loved the way the string section’s sound melded together, how they breathed and phrased as One … perfect! 💛

As a successful orchestrator/arranger, I have long held the opinion that The Philharmonia have one of THE most perfect string sections of any orchestra. One day I hope to work with them. They featured in a brilliant TV series dedicated to them a few years ago. That they are producing content of this superb quality during such a strange time in everyone's lives is wonderful. Bravo Philharmonia!

This has to be hands down the most useful, informative and perfectly executed educational experience I’ve had the pleasure to enjoy. And what amazing playing, string section artistry at its highest, the Debussy around 11:03 ish had me in tears, amazing to hear it so raw in the section like that. A million times a thank you for the content

Loved this video and hearing the outstanding players. As the former leader/composer of a big band I was sometimes at odds with one of the players who didn't seem to think that the flute player/s should have a mic. Of course they do to stand out in amongst much louder players and the harmonics of instruments like the double bass. I suppose that in a string section, the strong sound comes from many players playing the same parts. This is surely the equivalent of having them amplified.

The strings section just fills up *so* much of the frequency spectrum that it blends sounds together. I always describe the strings as an ocean of sound or like the wind.

This is why I subscribed to this channel. Insight into the orchestral sections, both as groups as individuals. This informs my compositions to be more realistic when working exclusively with recorded samples on my computer.
