OMG this is such a beautiful place 😍 Also, happy belated birthday Chris! Hope you had a wonderful day, and hope you have an amazing year ahead 🤍
Hey Chris, new subscriber here. I came across your channel as i'm trying to start a KZread channel. You have the nicest gadgets and set ups, (sadly out of my budget for now) but what made me subscribe to your channel is YOUR JOY and your honesty when you vlog. none of the videos i've binged for the past 48 hours has infected me with such enthusiasm and gratitude of being able to travel... and just to appreciate what is around us... so THANK YOU!!! you made my day! Keep vlogging.
great format, more of these please
Welcome to my country, happy to see you there 🙏
Thanks for this. I have been looking for a decent, affordable way to add the ND filter to my phone, and the Sherpa was exactly what I was looking for!
Loved This Video!
Interesting! Thanks for sharing it. ✌️
glad to see you out at it. I think the real question would be does the low light hold up in comparison.
Adding bulk to my phone isn't really my thing, that's why I have the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 for videos.

Just picked one up, love it
Just watched your video about how you started as a travel photographer, I would love an updated video that also includes a bit more of the legal side! Fellow Canadian here and curious how you're able to get paid in other countries/whether you need any work visa's and all that. I'd love to do what you do! I've been able to exchange some photos for stays in Airbnb's so far and have been having fun using photography to help support my travels :)
7:32 I love that you say literally like normal Australians 🥰 A lot of Australians now days say literally like most Americans/Canadians. Anyway, great video like always Chris.
It’s a give and take, if you want to use the SSD drive on the back for storage, there’s no room for the grip and the ND filter anymore, but if you want to use those, you can’t attach the SSD on the back. So eventually you will build a bigger rig, making the phone heavier and not easy to carry around
Chris, have you tried the Cinema P3 App?
Awesome. I’d love to go there. I had to look up where it was. Off the coast of Yemen. Crazy.
Nice! I'm still on the 13 Pro Max but considering the upgrade. With all of the accessories considered (case, ND filter, maybe even SSD) are there any smartphone gimbals that will handle that kind of weight? My 13 Pro Max on my DJI OM4 gimbal is a killer combination, but the 13 just about hits the weight limit and that's with zero cases and accessories.
How are you colour grading phone footage so perfectly? We need a video on that please 🙏❤
Chris, you are considerably more skilled than I would ever hope to be, but why in the blazes did you post this video at 1080P?
The flex USB-C to USB-C cable is TDF. Where'd you get that ? And which ND filter was it ? You list Freewell True Color, but not which specific one you should get ?
what exact grip you using?
Wanting to see how you edit iPhone footages.
Can you please link the usbc cable you are using for the ssd. I have been looking for something short and flexible like that forever but all high speed ones I found are thick and non flexible.
So how much space was on that external ssd and how many hours of footage were you able to get in pro res?
I don't think a smartphone will replace a mirrorless or cinematic camera. However I do think it is at the point where it can hold up to being a decent complement for shooting b-roll and for shooting clips where it would be too cumbersome to carry heavier video gear. For travel vloggers I could see it being a decent option. You are sitll limited in terms of lense options though compared to a mirrorless camera and most smart phones have fixed apertures so your ability to be creative with your depth of field is limited. Now they do have nd filters for them which is useful to shoot outdoors or in bright situations so the filter options are there. Still I say its a complement to mirrorless vs a replacement.
Oh my those trees
I got a 15 pro max for its point and shoot video capability (because that's kind of my level). I've discovered that while the ease of use and quality are up there, Apple can get 'too clever' with unnatural colours and HDR type processing. Makes me gag a bit at times. I would have to use Prores which negates the 'ease of use' that I desire. Probably better off using a 'proper' camera.
Was security an issue due to it's location near Yemen?
It's getting close but not totally there. Issues for me: needing an external SSD is not ideal and negates the waterproofness of the phone (which would be one of the main reasons to use it). The ND is essential and also adds bulk. At some point it starts to become a camera. Also, the lens quality around flaring and ghosting is horrible on phones. Which brings me to my next point: as soon as mirrorless cameras add an internal ND, better electronic stabilization, and better dynamic range and some smarter sharing features then I would prefer the dedicated ICL mirrorless camera. I see an opportunity for Apple to partner with a camera manufacture(s) and offer AirDrop compatibility...but it looks like they would rather forge ahead with their iPhone as a cinema camera approach.

I would rather buy one thing than two…
I don’t have the funds for a fancy camera. But I do have an iPhone in my pocket. Anything that helps me learn is ok with me. Glad u shared this dude 🤙

Thanks so much for watching!
what about the annoying light flares like a dot ?????? there is any way stop it ????
How do you plug in the SSD and a microphone that’s also needing that port?

But also, now you can’t use that ND filter anymore bc the hard drive is in the way…
Wait! Did you not shoot it in log?
Carrying a second camera with you, IS adding bulk… I like to get all accessories that are standard for any camera, add a cage, pop in the phone, start shooting, take out the phone and I’m back to normal. You would prob want external ssd, vnd and microphones with any camera.
Why not do the same video with Xiaomi 14 ultra?
To me I like the look of the iPhone more than the rest of the video, Just feels like the whole video is to dark. (my opinion). Nice video though 👍
❤
funny dragon's tree, so it means they made from an actual dragon? uhh? hahahaha savage
Osmo pocket 3 is amazing, just saying
In the thumbnail for this video, Chris is holding his iPhone with the hard drive and VND filter attached. So, it appears to be possible. Granted, without the side handle.
Juts plug a usbc stick in it an go, why make the phone bulkier
I don't get it, if we're making our phone bulkier and more of a burden to carry, to get better footage why not just use our cameras that were made for it?

Probably because the iPhone is something you're going to buy and have on you at all times any way. It's more convenient to not go and buy another $2000-$5000 camera, also won't have any issues being kicked out on certain locations the way you would if you were carrying an actual camera.

It does seem counterintuitive but in the grand scheme of things, once all the accessories are added, it's still way more portable and lighter than a full on mirrorless with the camera body, the lenses, the ND filters, the batteries, and so on. I was shooting in Malaysia once and when the security guard saw my Sony mirrorless on a gimbal he said I can't shoot. But when I put my put my iPhone on a DJI Osmo Mobile 4 gimbal, I could shoot all I wanted. I don't think it's a 'this vs that' it's more like a 'if the situation calls for it'.

The iphone with all its accesorries still lighter than a small mirrorless with a tiny lens
Naw it most certainly can be the A cam
Ok waiting for the iphone 16
What’s with scooching down to look into the camera?
The footage looks like phone cam it does have nothing to do with cinematography

My question is what bring someone like you for this Island that is Occupied by The United Arab Emirate 🤔
I want "high quality," he says. 1080P video he uploads.
I just dont like the contrast you used on this video, way too dark.
