This is fantastic. I worked in radio for 25 years and got this exact advice from respected Program Directors in major markets. ESPECIALLY addressing the audience as individuals and not "guys", bullet points rather than scripts, talking through a smile and gesture to punctuate your words. All we had was audio, but good practices in broadcasting apply to all platforms.

Very true, have to say you hit the nail on the head as I do , do some of akward things , have a great one. You did fantastic

How to address to viewers depends on what kind of feeling you want to create, I guess. Addressing them as one individual probably creates a more intimate atmosphere, while you "guys" may evoke the feeling of belonging to a community.

So true. I co-piloted the front desk at career services for a major university my freshman year. The phones (pre-mobile era) were always jammed with CEOs trying to get through to their recruiters or set up an event. The lady in charge of the desk had worked there about 30 years. The only advice she gave me was "smile when you answer. They can hear a smile, and it sets the tone."

So how would you introduce yourself or start your intro trying to address a single person instead of a group ?
Practice Practice Practice, i vlog every where i go, walmart, the grocery store, hiking, i rarely use this footage but helps me get comfortable talking to the camera and doing it in crowds, people do stare but that’s ok, sometimes people recognize me an stop and say hi, that’s ok too. The more i practice, when i sit down to do a talking head, i look into the camera better and look much more relaxed and comfortable like im just talking to a friend on teh couch. Practice is the only way to get better in crowds. When i set up my tripod to film doing self checkout at walmart, while talking to camera, people watch, and are like , what a narcissistic weirdo, but that ok too, this is the world we live in. And by the way, im 60 years old. Old dogs can learn new tricks, haha.. great video, lots of great tips, but i think everyone can improve their on camera personality and delivery to make it more entertaining. Forget about analytics, just make better videos, be more engaging and entertaining. Some people are naturals, im not at all, it has taken 4 years of weekly videos to improve a little be with each one. Love this topic. Larry

@@l.e.phillips i have had some great conversations with people that started with, what’s with the camera.. i was at Lowe’s yesterday day and had an vlog setup with a small light, that really gets people’s attention, so far i rarely have a bad experience except for once at a national park visitor center from a ranger, finally she had to admit i was allowed to film inside the ranger station. It’s so common these days, when people ask why I am vloggging i tell them my channel, they usually look it up right there and subscribe its funny. Larry
From now on, I'm referring to my camera as my "ONE EYED FRIEND"😅😅😅 Man, thanks for this video
This is my issue right now, the algorithm is magical
Great advice! "Weird one-eyed friend." 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah, I thought that was a pretty great reference he made. 😅
Something that has helped me quite a lot is sharing my webcam with homies on Discord while we chat in VC. Also sending video messages in the DMs instead of just typing it all out has helped immensely.
Great advice! What helped me the most in becoming comfortable talking to my weird one-eyed friend was live streaming. If you hang out in front a camera talking to actual people behind the camera as in a live stream then when you switch to a standard shoot it's easier to imagine a human behind the lens.
Sean, You just took care of my "Trauma Mongering" 🤣🤣🤣🤣! Thank you so much! I have saved your video and will watch it at least a few times per week to calm me down. By the way, that is exactly what happened after I was done watching. I calmed down and a flood of new ideas to make my environment comfortable came to me. I thank you good Sir! 💛🌻
I have made many of these changes in my most recent videos and have noticed a positive difference! Great tips!
Funny thing is I got cast for a movie recently for a major role as a gritty detective in a horror/ comedy film....during the table read the director asked me to bring it down a notch...why? Because I'm so used to doing KZread and being that energetic persona. I think his direct quote was..."you sound more like the victims best friend than a gritty detective." LOL. Thanks for the pointers Sean. Rock on!

Original and fabulous advice. Thanks Sean.
Love all of your videos but it this one helped the most. Haven’t done this but I’ve thought of printing out a face of Bill Murray and putting the print near the lens of the camera to help me relax and remember to act like I’m talking to a human.
I needed this and appreciate you being so real, thank you Sean!
Golden tips all of them as always ! Thanks Sean 🤗
Hi Sean...feel like you made this video just for me. Things I strive for...6 years of creating videos and I still struggle with all of these things. Know what I need to do....but still very hard to put into practice. Hear what your saying...even at 56 I'm a work in progress. Keep up the great work!
⭐️ Well done. Appreciate you
This was great thanks Sean!
Great tips as always. Doesn't get more authentic than that. Thanks Sean.

So much real value here 👍 great stuff. This reminds me of how uncomfortable I was when learning and playing guitar. Now I play on stage in front of people weekly and I don’t even think about it anymore. 👊 thanks for being real.

Excelente vídeo, llevo varios días intentando buscar una forma agradable y cómoda de hablar en frente de una cámara, esto lo simplica bastante, gracias por los consejos!!
Great advice!
Thank you bro, I really think this advice is gonna help a lot of people myself included 💯
Great Advice. You nailed it. Thanks
Thank you 🙏🏽
Thx for this 👌
Great tips. I've been memorizing what I want to say and doing way too many takes so I've been considering trying a teleprompter, but I think it will come across way to formal and scripted. I like your bullet points tip and just honestly talking about the points, comes across better and more natural.
Great advice!!
Thank you for this! Feeling inspired! ❤
Good points my friend
This was an AMAZING video
cheers! excellent advice mate
Thank you. I've definitely found you just have to do it and practice "talking to the camera". Use of hands helps for sure. Great tips!

Thx a lot for your tips! The cool & easy talking to the camera like to a friend is a really important point. For me now it’s a bit difficult, but like you said with practice it will work better in future I think too. Like you talk in this video is one of my goals, because it’s so cool to listen 👍🏻
I’m working on this, I’ll give this tips a shot next time. Thank you
