You can look at places like PESI and Psychwire for some easy access CEU's but I also like to look at the agencies that certify folks. For example, BehavioralTech certifies DBT providers so I would look there.

Hi Nonlife. I have invested in a lot of camera equipment over the years, but I use a lot of it for the videos you are seeing. In the video, I am using a Sony A7iii and a Rode Video MicNTG. I used to use that for sessions as well, but recently have just been using the built in camera and mic on my Macbook

My biggest fear is actually getting clients. Advertising is the hardest and most expensive part in my opinion, and with out it the practice will fail or take a decade to grow.

Yes this is one of the biggest challenges.

When you say “HIPPA compliant form for communication” and “HIPPA compliant telehealth platform” etc, is that only pertaining to therapists in their own private practice that are paneled with insurance? Does this apply to private practice therapists that do not accept insurance and therefore out of network? Thanks!

Hi Carly, this is a great question and one that is actually may have some nuance to it. In order to determine if you need to be HIPAA compliant it is best to consult an attorney, but my understanding is that if you do not take insurance you may not be a HIPAA covered entity.

But what kind of lawyer ? And what do you say to that lawyer for them to know what you need ? And is there a cost that you paid for the consultation and then for the forms?

Hi there. You want to speak to a lawyer who specializes in healthcare. Yes, there is typically a cost for the consultation (an hourly rate) and a separate cost for the packet. Hi Nic, Good question. Most of the softwares will have you sing a BAA (Business Associate Agreement) and this is where they detail how they use the PHI

@@matthewryanLCSW The school provides potential candidates but when you find their info and contact them .. they have never heard of the preceptorship program.. I guess I should've checked into this before starting the program but I went in blind just trying to better myself

Can I social worker be a therapist? Would you recommend Masters in SW or in Counseling? in order to become a Therapist.

Hi Mia. Yes a social worker can be a therapist. This is what I am. In NY, typically, a social worker will have a broader scope of practice than a counselor. I am not sure if this is true for every state though. In other words the social work degree tends to be a bit more versatile.

This depends on the state. I'm in Georgia and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. In Georgia typically "for jobs" social workers get paid more than counselors. If you are doing private practice, however, it doesn't matter because you set your own fees...either way you can't go wrong!
