@@ManagedPan1kgot to playing too passive following Luke’s advice. At some point you have to play fast and chase a bit to get good. While still rotation backpost obviously. I just found myself not being aggressive enough on offense. I pretty much stopped going for aerials there for a bit after listening to flakes. Balance is so important

As a keyboard and mouse player because I have WAY more hours and experience on the pc than on the console, this helps a lot. I’m definitely gonna try practicing these, especially power slide. Because sometimes I wonder if I’m doing a certain mechanic wrong or something. I’ve watched loads of videos and tutorials on how to get more goals and I’ve had so many of them tell me to just hit the ball and have more confidence. While the confidence thing is true, I can agree that hitting the ball accurately is extremely difficult.

Man it’s so much better seeing you (by you I mean ANYONE) comment something like this, stating how hard it is to sometimes do even the “simplest” things in game, rather than a whole thread of people posting about how they are GCs who “have no clue how they made it that far!” I swear if everyone who says they’re a GC truly is, there would be no Platinum or Diamond players at all in Rocket League. Good on you for being real bro, I applaud you! 🤝

i agree, you dont need super flashy mechs to get gc, but with me, ill go for something like an air dribble if the opponents arent in or near net and if im consistant enough. you dont have to do that you could just score, its up to you.

i unfortunately got gc with mainly game sense and basic mech, got like 6k hours, and the skill ceiling is higher now and people have better mechs, so there is only a couple days left till this season ends lol, so im finally gonna put time into my mechs and finally pick up directional air roll and so far, i have already started getting some flip resets, so much easier to get them with air roll right then it is free air roll, but i still need practice, im just tired of being the positional player lol, thanks for the video Spook

So a few things I'd assume at least if your comfortable with directional air roll there not as much need for the joy stick air roll would I be correct I have always felt more comfortable with having air roll set to x and b on an Xbox controller and using that I use it to angle my car mid air to change how I'm hitting the ball and to land straight and stuff is there any reason to learn joystick air roll if I can directional air roll also now onto the things I find off with this video while most of it are all great techniques to learn and I agree solid things to know the idea that like all you need to do is bounce dribble let's say the problem with this when you get really low level you got not only the enemy but your teammates rushing the ball so much you couldn't just take slow approaches like that some of these techniques become hard to actually use in game cause of how everyone else is playing in the low levels and they actually work better once you get to a level where other people are playing correctly

I love your vids Luke, sorry you have so little confidence that people would see things like this through to the end. If you have trouble convincing people how effective bounce dribbles can be, show them some Khalid game play. Ever since I saw him on Johnny's channel, I've been in awe of what bounce dribbles can do. Still can't do them, because I don't practice even a tenth of what I should, but their efficacy is undeniable. Thanks for all the tips and advice through these videos. Maybe one day when I can afford a new PC I'll be able to take some coaching sessions from you.

What is the difference between bounce dribbles and powerslide cuts? I find them super hard to train because i keep mixing them up (C3 - GC1 atm).

With bounce dribble you dont need to press powerslide, Just hit the Ball while it bounce. Of course, you can use powerslide too. Powerslide is Just a specialist technique, while bounce dribble is a more General term. It is like the difference between air dribble and flip reset-you can flip reset while air dribbling, but dont have to)

Spook, quick question. I find it difficult to use joystick airroll cause I have just used directional for a while. Is there anything I can't do with directional?

I've never had joy stick airoll bound. 😬 Is it something someone who's always used both directional airolls should learn.
