The ONLY Heat Gun Worth Buying | New Tool Tuesday

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Welcome to another episode of #NewToolTuesday. There are countless times when I work in my garage that I need heat. Whether it be if I’m working on electrical connectors and need to use shrink-wrap, whether it be if I’m changing the colour of a panel and am using vinyl wrap, whether it be if I’m tinting windows / taillights and need the product conform to a curve, a heat gun is a must.

I used to own a 1200 Watt Wagner heat gun and it didn’t even last me a year. I decided to get a better one and MANNN was it an upgrade. Not only has it lasted me over 4 years now, but it is completely adjustable which is super handy. It can be used on such a wide array of projects, which makes it is MUST HAVE if you’re a weekend warrior or professional. The heat gun has 2 different fan speeds for you to choose from, 11 CFM on its low setting, and 19 CFM on its high setting. The gun has a potentiometer / dial to change the temperature of the gun from anything from 120 to 1200 degrees. It runs off a regular 120v outlet and comes equipped with a 6-foot high grade power cable.
Porter Cable’s 1500-Watt heat gun has been my go to for the past years. I’ve used it on its max setting, on its lowest settings, and everything in between. I’ll be honest, it might smell for the first week or two of using it, but after the initial break in period, the smell goes away and it works like a charm.

Hey quick question. After this video I went and bought the same gun. How much do I turn the knob in order to use it for vinyl wrap? I understand the vinyl requires 90 degrees celcius to remove the memery temporarily. How much do you turn the knob on yours to do vinyl and do you use the first or and setting? I'm afraid to burn the vinyl.

Eh, I'm happy with my Harbor Freight $12 heat gun. If I wanna adjust my temperature, I'll just move the gun a little farther away from the surface. 🤔🤔🤔

I work in a body shop, Never ever use an eraser wheel on a bumper, they are meant to be used on metal surfaces. Plastic bumpers heat up and soften too fast. You learn from you’re mistakes.

Wouldn't a paint leveler or acetone have worked better to remove that glue residue, instead of power tools? If the clear coat is baked properly, it won't be affected by the thinner.

damn milmast, u should just have used goo gone or just heat up the glue then peal it of, but still looks bettter than any other 370 z out there. Use some 3m glazing and spot putty, then touch it up with some paint, or just glaze it with the spot putty then put on a colour matched vinyl rap. Your Awesome!! Greetings frome sweden
