good taste. would be even better if the motif datejust is 36. that way the variation in size and feel on wrist provides a refreshing change time to time. i made the mistake of having mostly watches (rolex) in the same size. having a size difference model in rotation really does make one appreciate the existing models even longer.

36mm is the classic size and IMO best looking. Oversized watches look like the wide ties of men’s fashion nowadays.

Two great watches, absolutely beautiful. Excellent choice my friend, I'd pick the Sub and the gold datejust with the fluted bezel like you have shown, the dial on datejust is so nice

1967 Sub and 1984 DJ two tone 36 mm from my father.

I have an explorer 2 (5 digit) and the root beer. I use as you prescribe day watch and a special occasion/ evening wear. I prefer the Ex over the sub as everyone has a sub!!

Yea I have the explorer ii in black dial too it’s an amazing watch for big wrists. But there is a reason why the sub still remains an icon and appeals to a larger crowd.

Personally I’m gonna go with a SS DJ and rootbeer. It’s opposite of what you have as the sports watch is precious metal but that’s just how it happened. The first watch the AD offers you usually a SS DJ…

Just about any Date Just or Day Date with any professional stainless steel sport Rolex combo will make a perfect 2 Rolex collection. That's all any man would need. A third, fourth, or fifth Rolex combo is optional. For me at this time my 2 Rolex collection is a 2021 36mm Explorer and a 5513 Submariner. I want a Day Date white gold 36mm or steel white gold 36mm Date Just on a jubilee.

Were both date justs size 36 ?

i would choose a Patek Philippe aquanaut 5167/1A and world time 5935A rather than a Rolex. I like the sub (i have an explorer 2 btw) and would want it to be in one of my collections but PP would be my first choice.
