The reason the head so far north before heading towards Hawaii is that an FAA office in Oakland handles communications on transoceanic flights.

I CAN'T WAIT...!!! This is exactly the airline and first class seating i'll be taking from Boston Logan to Honolulu for my 50th birthday. Looks like a nice seat set up that beef patty though wasn't very appetizing hopefully they have other choices and not just vegan. But otherwise the lie flat seats for my 12hr flight will be well worth the money. And for anyone who wants too know the cost it's about $4000 or a bit more round trip. That's without points or anything else you might have too lower the cost.

Great video and voice! I have not yet seen the new Hawaiian Airlines gates. Very nice! I would like to fly Hawaiian from where I live in Seattle once they merge with Alaska Airlines. Now, Alaska goes to the old HNL gates, but they do have those open-air walk ways and the big flower gardens.

We flew Hawaiian Air First Class about a month ago and it was worth every penny. Can’t wait for the new Hawaiian Air plane premiering 2024.

@@DKN8 Aloha 😋 yes 👍 I have family on 3- different Islands. I grew up in Kailua-Kona Book a flight ✈️ early & save $$. We only fly on Hawaiian Airlines. ✅🌸. Don’t splurge on first class. Not worth it. Just upgrade to Extra Comfort & pick your own seats It’s amazing. Aloha Nui Cheers 🥂

Thank you for actually bringing up how annoying some of these airports are ! Lol

that pop up screen between seats has as an oddly satisfying design, the frosted glass effect is perfect for privacy, cabin seating is like 'retro chic' despite showing some age, the Hawaiian music on this is killer lol

I do like their little design on the privacy partition! I personally feel like the cabin is perfect for what it’s purpose is, although their new planes are arriving soon with the new interiors

There are two gates at HNL that can accommodate the A380: C4 and C9. The primary A380 gate is C4. Qantas did express interest in using an A380 to service HNL. Hence, the second A380 capable gate C9. I live in Seattle, but I was born and raised in Hawai`i. I travel internationally for work. Because no A380's service SEA, I flew to HNL to fly to NRT on the ANA A380. It was worth the time. Besides, I was able to visit family.

When I lived on Kauai, I would regularly fly HA, and even their inter island flights were fantastic.

I love their 717's, and how they give you those little cups of pog juice even though it's just a short flight

Definitely an older looking seat. Gotta remember also that domestic first class in the US is really just business class. They just market it differently. Still no excuse for a dirty seat

They don’t have WiFi, unfortunately. But we still go w them. The music, pog, and lay-flat seats, and they’ve never given me grief about my gsd mobility service -super helpful!

LAX, Chicago and Atlanta airports whew, I always make sure I arrive extra early when I fly out of these airports. Especially Atlanta, I arrived 2 hours early and still almost missed my flight.

Not all airports are created equal. If I were smart I’d invent different processes to quicken up the experience while keeping it safe

The gate is another gate designed for the A380. It's the last gate in that terminal. ANA is starting to fly duel A380's into Honolulu though not on a daily basis. I saw the first daily double in mid October. ANA has three turtle livery and I saw their orange colored one for the first time last week.

"Steebs wifi"is the man for the flight ✈️

Next year Hawaiin is changing planes to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner so that will be a nice upgrade. Aug 7th i fly out to Maui with my family, not first class though. Last year we did Oahu. Mahalo.

I lived on Oahu for a long time. Every single day I ache to return “home”

Odd that the decorators couldn’t source dark brown plastic. HA have always treated me well in either class, they’re my first choice for travel to Hawaii 😎

The cleaning crew needs to pay attention to the grubby crumbs in the console. Reassuring that if you can't afford business/first class, you're not missing out on much!

saw the ANA A380 parked at HNL . the airport is sorta tacky mostly. the first class lounges look like they are stocked by the ABC Stores lol

I fly from bradley terminal every year to go to Korea it is a nice terminal especially after the renovations.

Macadamia nuts are NOT a Hawaiian signature dish. They are native to and come from Australia originally.

The coffee maybe was a Kona blend so perhaps that's why you enjoyed it. ;-)

Hawaiian airlines is the only airline that fly directly from honolulu to Boston and it is the longest inside of the United states. (Best way to use first class is from Honolulu to Boston where you get to use the lounge and also to sleep over night on a flat bed, also the food is not bad, starting with a mai tai.)

Never been on Hawaiian as I live on the east coast of the US, but they don’t look too bad for a quick 5-hour flight from LAX but idk about that 11-hour Boston flight though…

Yea I do what to try that flight out. But who knows. Business class would make it easier, but it isn’t known for being the best business class

Well, I'm retired (worked WAY up front in the pointy part) and although I was with the "friendly" airline, and been to Hawai'i many times, my partner has not. We have a cruise in Oct (LA Mex RT) so Hawai'i likely in 2024. I really want partner to experience Hawaiian Airlines, it's somewhat more 'local' in feeling and less likely to have dinosaur FAs. (Oops...well, that's a reality with many legacy carriers)...😊

Love your video and a new subscriber. However, I flew HA A-330 first class three months ago from LAX to HNL> I wasn't to please with the old look and hard to get out the window seat to go to the restroom. The service was good but could be a little better for the price. I been fly Hawaiin and United to Hawaii all the time. Rickey from Los Angeles

It is a slightly old style, but that is somewhat the market they are. I am curious if the 787s will be much newer considering United Delta and American have all begun bringing their flagships to Hawaii so they may not want to risk losing the customers

One problem with Hawaiian, Patrick is that they are a coastal airline. I live in New Orleans so they are not even a blip on the radar to me. I have family that lives in the bay area and they love taking Hawaiian to the islands.

British Airways has 787 service between New Orleans and London LHR. I would be thrilled if Hawaiian came to New Orleans, but it's not very likely.

If I fly Hawaiian, I'd want to try their a321 and 717 🤞

I flew on the a321 and 717. Its not horrible but it’s a little tight and same with the 717 but it’s good

As much as I like HAL, their A330’s is starting to show its age. They’ve recently unveiled their 787’s and I can’t wait to get on one of those. As for someone who lives on Oahu, Daniel K Inouye/Honolulu International Airport needs to get completely torn down and have a modernized airport be built.

When the A330s go I will stop flying with HAL. There is NO way I will sit with a third party, even though SYD to HNL isn't much over 9 hours. The 2:4:2 configuration is great but 3:3:3 is the pits. I have only done it once - from Minneapolis to Calgary - never again.

They do use the international terminals at both LAX and SFO, but the process is the same as any other domestic flight. You only need your Real ID and there’s only the normal TSA

yes, better pillow, mattress pad, comforter offered on routes longer than 7 hours 59 minutes.

I fly Hawaiian from Portland. I avoid LAX when possible.

21:50 The front side of the form is "required" the back of the form asking for tourist information is not. I have never seen anyone questioned/harassed for not filing out this form.

I live in California. I'm leaving tomorrow morning for a one week vacation in Hawaii. I'm going to drive there in my new car because I'm afraid of flying.

Totally depends on the day since the winds will dictate what direction they takeoff/land so you’ll see different scenery. On a typical day, the right side of the aircraft is my favorite for landing in HNL

I’ve flown Hawaiian to/from JFK, along with inter island, about a dozen times. By coincidence, one of my friends is an author who also happens to be an HA captain! We tried so many times to coordinate our schedules, with no luck, until our very last trip from HNL. I had my three adult kids with me, and we were guests of the captain! Here’s the landing. I said it was so smooth because I was a passenger 😁 and I’m sticking to that story! Later that day, after we all rested, I took him to the Met Opera, of all places, and we had a great time. Not at LAX. Their Hawaii airports all have business class lounges

You are wrong. Certain types of there craft offer wifi entertainment via their Hawaiian app.

I actually found the seats to be the same throughout. The main difference: it’s easier to get past the person in the aisle seat in row 1

We sat in row 3 going and 1 returning. Definitely 3 as it’s not so close to the action. Although we were first to exit.

Wow, Sean. This video made Hawaiian Airlines look singularly awful compared to what else is out there flying this route. Thanks for letting us know what not to fly.

It does depend on what you’re looking for. They aren’t close to the seat quality of United Polaris or Delta One, but it does start your island vacation vibes a bit earlier!

Not a permanently installed one, but the iPads do have content. That should change once their new aircraft arrive in April though

Let us not forget that the top of the line Emirates in business on the T7 has that top of the line 2-3-2 config....Just saying. Okay, so I am on a LAS-HNL flight at least 4 times a month, the food is okay or good, never really bad, never really outstanding (looking at you UA), the seats are okay for the length of the flight, though I will be honest, I have both seats booked, either my assisant or wife joins me, if not it's a few hours of peace and quiet. The IPads are okay, until the 3rd or 4th flights of the cycle, most of the time I have my own tablet loaded with stuff to watch.

Sure wish HAL would exercise its right to offer service to GUAM .... Since Continental was absorbed by UAL the travel is "painful" and I would sooner catch PAL straight to Manila, then back fly to Guam. UAL takes their exclusivity for granted and needs to be jolted with a real competitor like HAL.

The brown thing on the left is a portabella mushroom, the grayish thing on the right is a sausage patty.

The price of this flight one way as of today is $910 plus taxes. Judging from how dirty, worn and dated the cabin was, HEYULL NO. I’ve had better food in a mall food court. Nevertheless, thank you for this video.

Drop the "that being said!" You say it several times per video. Come up with something different. Other than that, enjoy your videos!

The Only thing I hate about Hawaiian Airlines is that you have assigned seating and if you sit in a window seat and you get the middle seat, people you sit with complain about it and yea, they need to have open seating like southwest

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of open seating. I like showing up and knowing that I can sit in the exact seat I’d like. But to each is own in that sense. I know lots of people do really like the Southwest model, just not for me 🤷‍♂️

Yea that’s definitely the trend these days, but Hawaiian Airlines just isn’t quite the luxury carrier that offer those seats. Just a different kind of brand. Although I agree the industry is moving away from a 2-2-2 setup for the better

No inflight entertainment in a wide body aircraft very disappointing

The food on Hawaiian Airlines tends to be boring, bland and basic. For First Class this is deplorable.

Before the gates I purchased our own food for The Flight to Maui Burger King Double Whopper w/ Cheese & Panda Express. Orange Chicken & Chow Mein 👍😊. It was Excellent. Aloha Nui Loa 🙏🌸✈️

Hawaiian Airlines cut corners on their systems delaying thousands, in some cases for over 48 hours. Their employees were rude, dishonest, and incompetent, and did not make timely updates and provide vouchers except for a joke $15 food voucher you had to wait an hour in line for. The gate agents promised at least $500 in compensation per day per person which Hawaiian Airlines has not delivered. 2 months after this incident, I have not been compensated for thousands in food, hotel, and taxi costs after having to FAX a letter and receipts to them. They have had several similar incidents like this in 2023 from Hawaii to CA to NY to Florida. Avoid this airline! Time for a class action lawsuit!

Hawaiian Air has the most dirtiest first class/business class seats I’ve ever experienced. Eewww!!! 🤢

SO much talking and I found it extremely annoying

They need to thoroughly clean in the crevices
