To those wondering, Mackenyu/Zoro was invited to the audition, but they were not informed that it was for One Piece and Mackenyu was In Budapest filming for a movie,so he declined at first. Then he was invited again. They did not want to disclose what the audition was for at first, then Mackenyu said he might consider if he would know what the audition was for,then the team decided to tell him it's for One Piece. He wanted to know further what character, then he was told it's for Zoro. Mackenyu said he did not hesitate and said, I'll do it! 😅 Oda specifically wanted a Japanese actor to play Zoro.Mackenyu fits the description, plus he speaks English fluently and has martial arts and Katana/sword skills,so yeah, even in the early stage, they were already eyeing him for the Zoro role.

Ah, no! He had to audition, but the management had a hard time because they had asked him to audition, but Mackenyu was only interested in auditioning for the role of Zoro, so they had to reveal that the role they are asking him to audition for is for Zoro.

​​@@jhinjhin00_1 Nah if there's one thing the show exceled at it was the fight scenes, they were great, sure they were floaty and have that "chinese wuxia martial arts" choreography to it but I think it worked for the show. The acting, dialogue, costume, cinematography, and writing in general do need a lot of work tho.
