Olympic's scrapping was not due to this collision, though. She was scrapped because the merger of White Star and Cunard meant that the combined Cunard White Star Line had far more ships than it needed for regular transatlantic service, and her ocean liner design meant that she wasn't an efficient hull for a full-time cruise ship.

Then in late 1941 the battleship USS Oklahoma collided with her off Hawaii and punched a hole in her, requiring repairs in drydock at Pearl Harbor. Olympic was the only ship that lived much longer than her sisters. Why noone respected and take csre of her even after the accident of Titanic and Britannic. She was same shaped ship, only yellow line livery was under the OLYMPIC name, others were same (with little differences). Let's hope that someone in the future will build these ships again.

I thought this was an accurate recreation, but I looked it up and discovered that this is actually startlingly inaccurate. The Olympic's speed at the time of the collision was only three knots, far slower than its apparent speed in the video. The lightship's crew described the collision as "more like a hard push and a terrific shaking, a crunching and grinding. It was not a loud smash as one might expect." The lightship was not cut in half. Its wreckage was discovered in the 1970's and confirmed in 1998, and is described as "remarkably intact" by those who have visited it. I'm sorry, but while this video is very dramatic, it is absolutely not an accurate depiction of the event.

hello everything is fine? I'm a big fan of your channel, I'm from here in Brazil (that doesn't change ANYTHING, but anyway), I'd like to take a doubt; from when specifically did Olympic start using this livery with the gold line below the Olympic name? I always thought it was in the renovation he did in the post-war period, but from what I saw in the photos, it wasn't. I think this format is much more beautiful than the format that was the Titanic and the Olympic itself where the golden line was above the names of the ships. Big hug and congratulations for the channel.
