Not really. White Star was going bankrupt because of the great depression, they needed the money and Olympic was outdated. When 1935 rolled around the Olympic had been sailing 25 years and was not really worth preserving. Not only this but by 1910 oil engines were created and became popular closer to WW2 since coal was slowly losing popularity so were Steam engines. In hindsight it was better to scrap Olympic because it opened job opportunities for thousands and got many families through the Depression. Cool ship, but history ran its course.

There should be a movie about the ships that were around the Titanic when it was sinking. The Olympic was one of the ships that picked up the Titanic’s distress call and tried to dash to its rescue, but since it was about 505 miles away, it was unable to get there in time. It just made it as close as about 110 miles from the location when it was turned down by the Carpathia, since it picked up all of the survivors. The Olympic’s crew still offered to carry the Titanic’s survivors, but the Carpathia’s crew declined because they were afraid that a ship looking near-identical to the Titanic would give the survivors great anxiety.

Well they never knew what nostalgia the titanic sinking would cause decades later, plus when they sold the ship for scrap, most of the world was coming out of a deep deperession so it gave people jobs in very poor area of Scotland. @@kd84afc They couldn't. White Star was going bankrupt because of the great depression, they needed the money and Olympic was outdated. When 1935 rolled around the Olympic had been sailing 25 years and was not really worth preserving. Not only this but by 1910 oil engines were created and became popular closer to WW2. Since coal was slowly losing popularity as a fuel source so too were Steam engines. In hindsight it was better to scrap Olympic because it opened job opportunities for thousands and got many families through the Depression. Cool ship, but history ran its course.

The reason she was painted in white during construction and the launch is because she was the biggest ship at the time and it was for publicity purposes also the grand staircase and promenade pictures in Titanic books are actually Olympics photos as they used the same photos on Olympic for the titanic advertising, nevertheless RMS Olympic is my favourite one as she is the original and survived also her nickname “Old Reliable” means lots especially that her sisters that were the mk2/mk3 versions of the Olympic and more improved which both sank which makes Olympics “old reliable” nick name mean a lot, I do wish that she was dry docked in Belfast instead of being scrapped as she would make a great museum ship and I would pay to visit her dry docked. It’s a shame Titanic got fame for all the wrong reasons and the Olympic doesn’t get mentioned or known about much I have only seen 3 Olympic documentary’s and more on Titanic and Britannic also she is a very underrated ship in my opinion as she had a great career , it’s good that the White Swan Hotel in Alnwick bought her fittings and let the public see them that will be the closest I get to experiencing the RMS Olympic.

@@christopherteo7795 1. You make 0 sense 2. Because the Olympic which was the best of the trio liners actually had history and did a perfect job in service. also the build number 401 on titanic was found in its wreck on the proppelor which means you have been proven wrong. But assuming you are an idiot and still believe in this stupid theory here is more: 3. The letters on the wreck that were shown in the video is just garbage and not real it is horrible CGI 4. Also how do they know where the iceberg was exactly. 5. Why would the white star line sink the Olympic the damage was affordable 6. Both ships were incredibly under insured so it would be a dumb way to be a fraud and it costed them their reputation and peoples life 7. If the switch theory was true, a way to also make more money is to release the Britannic which was under construction at the time why would they add more Safety features after the titanic sank if it was switched? Also if you want to switch those ships you would need to have them docked next to each other for a year even with 1000s of skilled workers, you would also need to keep their mouth shut which would be impossible. And they weren’t even docked together that long Also don’t forget civilians could snitch. THEORY DEBUNKED🎉🎉🎉🎉 Now shut up about the switch theory
