The Old World: A Revitalised Approach to Magic

Magic. The one we’ve all been waiting for. Well. I know I have been at least. Wild and outrageous magic defines The Old World. Past editions have seen ridiculous spells causing absolute mayhem on the battlefield. While it’s important to keep this sense of power, it’s equally important to have a balanced approach to magic that works in context of the other aspects of the game. It looks like Games Workshop may have found that balance with the new way in which magic works, which we get to finally see. Enjoy!

Not sure I'm totally a fan of the concept of limiting dispel range or the lack of respective Casting/Dispel dice pools... especially the latter since that'd add even more tactical nuance to the game in terms of "what do I want/need to cast?" including having to budget your dice.

I haven’t had a chance to play much fantasy, but I’d imagine the dispel mechanics will negatively effect dwarfs in particular. Can’t move that fast to begin with, and you don’t want your runesmith that close to the enemy as it is. Or do dwarfs rely entirely on armour embedded runes to negate magical effects?

@@scoticvsgossage9378 in prior editions it was about trying to dispel hostile magic

2:20 I'd expect the Lores of the Eight Winds in the High Elves army book. Anyway, I've been loving seeing the magic types of Warhammer's early days back.
