I found 2..8 pointers that locked up and drowned in a creek in Jackson County, Ohio. I cldnt afford to mount them locked up, but still have the racks and pics of how I found them in the creek. I was part of a Federal Funded creek clearing clean up and the last day of it was when I notice them while looking over a bridge off of St. Route 35. Called the game warden and was able to get tags for both bucks...great story to tell the grand kids

Hunted Southern Ohio for the first time 21 season. Heading back in November and I can't wait. I have completely become obsessed with the big hill country. I'm from Georgia and have hunted public land throughout Georgia for 20 plus years. The feeling is nothing compared to Ohio. I sit at home and feel like a 170" buck could walk out at any minute. I sit in ohio and feel a 200" plus could walk out at any minute. Georgia has a 2 buck, 10 doe tag system, and a very long rifle season. I really like how Ohio is one buck state

Muskingum county is noted for it's big bucks, but really anywhere in the hills one could escape hunting pressure for a long time. The old bucks have safe zones and they escape to them at the first sign of pressure. If you can locate their hiding spots then you stand a better chance at getting a shot off. Any "trophy" buck I ever hunted is Wiley and very cautious even in the rut. One way to beat them is hunt in a downpour during the rut. They generally put their nose to the ground and are less aware of other smells. The rain also masks outlying sounds. Just saying, but not a lot of people are willing to get sopping wet for a deer.

I shot a deer with a really tight, small 8 pt basket. When I got up to it, it appeared bigger, heavier and taller than the average south Texas deer. I rolled it over after seeing under its tail (I walked up from rear and shot in heavy brush thinking it was a doe. ) To my shock not only did she have antlers, she had festivals as well as the vulva I saw when her tail was up and I shot her..as a doe. So I had to pack her in on horse and get with Parks)wildlife to see what tag to use. Since Tx tags say "antlered" or antler less, I had to buck tag her. And they said she was considerably bigger than average deer of either gender by some 50+ lbs or more. Interesting enough was she had all the internal female organs to have a fawn and her udder looked as though she'd fawned several times. The teeth put he at 9 years old. She outlived all the predators and hogs in a very desert like poor environment and was tick free and healthy. Kinda cool but sad I ended her interesting life .I saw another hermaphrodite but it was more male than female

I think the BTR scoring system is the best way of scoring. If the deer grew it should be scored the true way. I’ve seen deer that score over 200 dropped to under 200 with boone system. If the seer grew it. Show respect for the animal and give it what it deserves

See a buck kill a buck then complain about no big bucks. Oh yes then the I shot a 4pt for camp meat. Which translates to I saw 15 doe first then shot the little guy. I shot my biggest buck to date in Pike county 2014. But my first hunt in Ohio was up in Belmont county and I saw a Mega Giant!!! He was living on over 300ac of NO hunting. Sadly I can’t come back until gun season. Great job!! Thanks for sharing.

I have a set of sheds that was scored by an official scorer from what was formerly Rack Magazine that netted a score of 224 inches. The set do not make any kind of record book because they are sheds but I was genuinely curious as to what they would score. The set has 25 .5 inch main beams almost 8 inch bases, triple brow tines both sides and a total of 21 points. The deer broke off two brow guards and a drop tine. I can't imagine what this deer looked like wearing that crown. They were found in South Eastern Ohio in 92 by my brother in a picked cornfield. He never hunted so he had no interest in keeping them and he gave them to me. He said they were laying only about 3 feet from each other. Can't hope for better than that I guess. My last deer in Ohio was a 170 in typical. Ohio is the land of giants.

We had 15 guys doing a deer drive on this high swamp. I shot at this monster buck 4 times, drew blood. After first shot he lowered his head and proceeded to plow his way out of danger. A stander on the highway said it was the biggest monster ever. My grandpa picked up the trail, barking on it. All of us spread out to cut off the monster buck. Nobody ever saw him before or after that day. Exciting hunt in a big swamp in the middle of BFE. If a hunter sees 5 deer and heard 2 it's a good season. The nearest farm land is 7 miles away. Real hunting, just real.

Apparently that's the way ppl are doing it these days. Paying a bunch of money to go have their pick on the deer they want to shoot bcuz the place is loaded with them in a area that is fenced in. It's a shame bcuz the deer deserve better! Ppl souks have to spend the time in the woods instead of going out in the dark and when the sun comes up having to decide on which buck to shoot bcuz there are so many.

They don't kill the deer in the fences lol those are for people to come and see. The deer on the walls were all killed in the wild.

I’ll never understand being proud of a deer you messed up so bad that it takes 3 days to find and is totally wasted it’s not about just killing them

Shyt happens man If you bow hunt long enough things can go errant. Several years back I had a pretty good buck @ like 15 yards, stopped him with a low mouth grunt @ full draw, held it tight just behind the shoulder and let it fly and somehow the arrow ended up hitting like 3 feet to the right in the hindquarter. My only conclusion was I must of clipped a small branch that I didn't see through my peep sight. Anyway gl out the tag a big 1

Hi, you represent this collection as big bucks..these bucks appear to be average weight, height, mass bucks. NONE look bigger than average bodies. If you said "big antlered" I'd believe you but not big bucks. You take a pickup and put smaller tires on it, or bigger..the truck is the same weight, width and horsepower..just the accessories are different sized, like antlers. A man can put a roll of pennies, quarters or half dollars in his front pocket..at the end of the day when he gets in bed..he is still the same body size , everywhere. So how are these deer represented as bigger than normal? How much taller, wider, heavier are they than average? If representing nature, just tell the truth..I'm not buying into that roll of pennies in your pocket
