3 arrows were released this season. Zak and Justin put in the summer work, and documented everything including their 3 chances at Boone and Crockett class whitetails. This season has nothing short of surprises, heartbreaks and giant bucks at every bend.

What a bummer season. On the bright side you guys are seeing/hunting bigger deer than most of us see in a life time. Wouldn’t be called hunting if it was easy, they’d just call it killing. Part of it fellas. You did a hell of a job as KZreadrs. Entertaining as hell. Keep it up.

In some ways I like this video even more than the almost "scripted", perfect hunt videos out there. The cliche expression is "That why it's called deer hunting and not deer shooting". These perfect hunts for monster deer on video, is something most of us have not experienced. What happened on this video and the understandable heartbreak.. we've all had a taste of that. Great video guys, for a lot of reasons. Most of all, the honesty and realism of deer hunting. Thanks for sharing !

Thanks for the support and we totally agree, we never wanted this season to go like that but it and sometimes that’s how it is is for a lot of hunters. Not too many will share when they have a bad season and only show the good. Thanks for the support and good luck this season!

Man, buddy. This one really hit close to home for me. I feel for ya. I went through the same thing 10-12 years ago when I made a run at chasing that dream. I put it ahead of everything. Because I believed in my abilities as a hunter and videographer. And it was one thing after the other year after year. We killed some deer but it changed the way I looked at hunting and it stole something from me that I’ve yet to get back. That’s the drive to hunt like a machine. I don’t think I’ve bow hunted now for almost 7-8 years. The last deer I killed was a 138” 8 pt behind my parents house on the ground. I think about huntin all the time but that’s about it. I don’t go. I don’t even own a bow at the moment. It sure gave an appreciation for the guys that can do this for a living. Cuz as much I lived for it trying to make it into a business put out my fire for it. Don’t let that happen to ya.

Love that fact that yall are showing us the more "real" side of hunting where there are a lot of times when nothing goes your way and it tests your patience. just some real guys being real the entire time. this is what its all about, the highs and the lows. im sure you guys have your scents you always use, but I started using a scent eliminator from Pure Whitetail that is dirt scent eliminator and have had a lot of deer down wind of me and never blow or spook. i hope yall give it a try. just a suggestion! love the content and look forward to this seasons content!

I know the feeling all too well. I shot a 14 pointer in MI two seasons ago and my neighbor ended with him. And I shot a 30+” wide buck in Illinois this past season with my bow and wasn’t able to recover. He was a foot outside his ears on either side. Probably a new world record typical. And I also shot a 170ish 10 with my shotgun on the same property on opening night of shotgun season and also didn’t recover him. I’m hopeful that the 30+” wide one is recovered by someone and ends up in the books as a deadhead find. I can’t hardly watch hunting shows anymore, especially this episode was hard for me. I hope I can enjoy hunting the same again some day. Hopefully getting my son on his first buck this season helps me to forget what I had at the tip of my fingers.

I was told by an old timer that's why they call it hunting and not killing. The heartbreak is real. The missed shot opportunities will absolutely destroy confidence. We have all been there at one point or another. I had it happen twice this year. One was a hair line Crack in my arrow and it completely came unglued as I released. Thank God I didn't get hurt. The next day I shot under another great buck. I was absolutely beside myself. Just have to continue to keep driving on and learn from mistakes and missed opportunities!

This is a great video that really shows the struggles we go through as hunters. I had a similar year passing those good 3 and 4 year old bucks to get opportunities at the truly mature giants that you only get so many chsnces at, and ultimately I didn't get it done this year either. I found out I was spending too much time being a bowhunter and not enough time being an archer. Going forward I won't make that mistake again. Do you plan to spend more time this off-season shooting from a saddle at height to try and minimize the chances of having another season like this one? I like your content, so I gave you a sub and look forward to seeing what the future holds for you guys!

Thanks for the support and the words man! Definitely relate for sure, we plan on shooting more than we ever have at all different types where we would be hunting. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for showing the real deal ...when you chase certain deer the lows way out number the highs more often then not it's just part of the game I also had the season from hell hunted a mid 180s class buck in my mind he was good as dead an even looking back I would not have hunted him any different warm temps an almost constant south winds played a huge factor the whole farm can only be hunted on a north.... thanks again for showing the truth,trials an tribulations.

Dang 98% of the way to an awesome season, just that last 2%… older I get more I’m coming around to lower draw weights being all around more lethal to close range whitetail, you think about dropping draw weight at all? Also do you think you’re compromising good form at the shot? Thanks for another great vid!
@creekkings
Жыл бұрын
You ain’t lyin… the biggest reason with the draw weight is the awkward angle of being in a saddle and not having a stable body. Even more stuff we learned that we will practice this summer! Form not really, i worked with zak a lot the couple years and he’s got great shot form! Everything is just tougher with a saddle outside of filming.

I hate that for yall but that’s the way it goes sometimes. This season was the absolute worst for me. I bumped my sight on the base of the tree one afternoon not thinking much of it until I gut shot a 5yo monster of a spike with coke can bases. I never was able to find him. Then two weeks later I made a bad shot that was my fault and hit a doe in the shoulder, arrow bounced back out and only penetrated an inch or so. I found this guy on KZread that uses a really nice drone to find deer and I think if you ever have this problem again you could contact him. The channel is called Drone Deer Recovery. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice! Thanks for watching as well!
Bow hunting big whitetails, especially with traditional bows not crossbows, is so effing hard. And you guys are trying to film too which ramps the difficulty level up by 1000%. Everything has to work out perfectly. You guys are only gonna keep getting better at this
