Hobbits take longer to become affected to the One Ring, hence why Gandalf had Frodo take the ring to Mordor. Gandalf himself was not immune to it, he was starting to show it affecting him, and he was only near it. Galadriel was not immune, either. The One Ring corrupts all and anyone, that was the point, and Gandalf probably figured that having a Fellowship compromising of mostly hobbits woulda helped the chances of the One Ring getting tossed into the volcano, should Frodo become too affected by it, by the time they reached Mordor. Which he did, but our boy Sam came through and then Gollum did the rest. … This is just off the top of my head, feel free to correct me.

the best part about lord of the ring is that over the course of the story, Frodo goes from being a brave hero to a corrupted coward. Sam wise goes from being a coward to being a true fucking legend. he becomes the true hero at the end and he saves the day.

  • @jordanakahi

@@errettfitchett2463 I think that's do to frodo being corrupted by the ring and feeling sauron watch him everytime he put the ring on. That's why Sam was necessary he didn't interact with the ring and kept sound mind and judgement. Frodo had to carry the ring and Sam had to ensure it didn't fully corrupt him.

It helps Frodo wasn't a easily corruptible character to begin with. He was pretty generous and wasn't greedy. Bilbo on the other hand was corruptible, he was greedy and not really generous a hobbit. I enjoy the dichotomy of Bilbo, Frodo, and Sam. Bilbo would a black character, his goals were greedy. Frodo is a grey character, he didn't really have goals except to get out of the Shire. Sam was a white character, his intentions were always pure and his goal was to stick by his friends side.

It's not like it's just mean DMs, rather that there's a whole social media culture that leaks into real life. eh, depends sometimes. but i'll throw my 2 cents and expound that there are 2 ways about it; play the character, or play as an idealized version of yourself. like, i totally agree no one wants to just BE there ACTUAL self like in GTA or something. we'd all die, don't even kid.

The valve section is kinda wrong. Valve Corporation is currently said to be worth (only) 10 Billion USD. So it would be buyable. The reason it can't be bought by anyone is because Gaben refuses to put his 50.1% of the shares up for sale. That's it.

It's hard to explain to casual audiences why Bilbo could give the ring up so easily, but it was because when he obtained the ring, he began his possession with pity. Bilbo had the ring on and was invisible and could've easily stabbed Gollum who was at a disadvantage, but he found good in himself and the poor creature and didn't do it. So it was that the ring didn't fully consume him and he still had good in him to battle the will of the ring. But when Gollum got the ring he killed Déagol for it, which haunted him forever. It was so bad that he made up a lie to justify himself, know one but him knew what happened to Déagol, as he had hid his body well, so he made a lie stating that Grandmother who had many things of value, had given him the one ring as his birthday. He told himself this lie so much he had actually believed it. He also used the ring much more than Bilbo did, and in a much worse manner. Bilbo mainly used the ring on his quest in The Hobbit to help his friends and evade danger, but Gollum used it to steal things and kill for food and fun. Bilbo wasn't able to give up the ring without Gandalfs help anyways, so the 60 years did have a lasting effect on him. Frodo hardly used the ring, and when he got it, he only used it for safekeeping, as Gandalf had instructed. Gandalf had the ring for 500 years, Bilbo had it for 60, and Frodo had it for 18 (he had for 17 years before he set out for his quest, which lasted an additional year.)

These men do not remember lord of the rings at all. Frodo was only ever expected by Gandalf to get the ring to Rivendell. He chose to bring it to Mordor because he could see that no one else could come to an agreement or be trusted not to give in to temptation.
