Wow you have got a lot done so far. The cabin is very well built. I remember the first time you got out to it. It’s been a really long time since I had rabbit. I actually found a IGA store in my small hometown that had it in the meat section. It was delicious and me and my brothers were camping outside of town we had it for breakfast. We explored the woods and found an old door so we took it back to our camp for a wind break. Some old gals were mushroom hunting and saw us with the door. They called the cops on us. They thought we were burying a body or something like that. Cops showed up while we were drinking coffee. Talked to us then laughed about it.

Great video man! Love the cabin videos and content. Fun fact. Technically "protein poison" is just a lack of fat from rabbit meat, so the body has to metabolize its own fat to process the protein and therfore causing weight loss (fat malnutrition) this can be minimized if you eat the skin and brains to supplement the lack of body fat from the rabbit. Historically native Americans never had this issue because they cooked the rabbit in bear or beaver fat.

Oh man you’re so lucky to have had a couple snows. It’s just so beautiful, but here in southern Quebec, we had a couple storms, but not much. I heard El Niño was partly the culprit, but also that Tonga volcano that ejected millions of of tons of sea water into the upper atmosphere, that made a mess of our weather for a few years. The rabbit protein thing is because there was lots of protein, but no fat, or at least carbs. Protein but no energy is a bad thing. Especially in the cold. You’ve become my prime Sunday video slot. Thanks for the videos.

I’ve heard of rabbit-related protein poisoning. But if you serve rabbit with a side of beans or quinoa, it tastes great and supplements the protein. You could also just have a tall glass of milk (or some cottage cheese) with it and that’ll give you plenty of protein. I like serving rabbit with grilled sliced sweet potatoes; fast and delicious! ☮️💕

Good call on editing out the killing the rabbit. When it comes to fish in some ice fishing videos, it might be a little more humane and represent NFLDers better to kill the trout right away as opposed to flipping them onto the ice and snow to suffer a slow death. Not a good look.

I often marinate my rabit in a hearty Cabernet and then make a reduction sauce with peaches or pineapple. I save the heavy syrup from both of those fruits (separately) and sometimes I just use the syrup in the Cabernet reduction

Hi Bob! Nice to see you've caught a few rabbits. Really not many rabbits in Nova Scotia. Any spots I've been. Hopefully the population will grow by next season. We got a really bad super heavy rain and major flooding this past summer. Likely drowned lots of rabbits.

Allen, your videos are great with all that beautiful scenery. Your guitar picking and singing are pretty good, too. Do you ever play in the Pubs around the Isle of Morts, or do you only play and sing at home? I play and sing a little, too, and I’d love to sit around and pick with you while drinking a pint of two. Good call on editing out the killing the rabbit. When it comes to fish in some ice fishing videos, it might be a little more humane and represent NFLDers better to kill the trout right away as opposed to flipping them onto the ice and snow to suffer a slow death. Not a good look.
