I remember as a kid watching the reruns on WPIX 11 NY. I was glad they made this movie for one last run together. It was very public knowledge of Klugman's throat cancer and at 28:09 it was a defining scene and Jack Klugman's finest performance. R.I.P. Tony and Jack.

@@joeydepalmer4457 Yup. Part of the PIX late night block for decades. It was the Odd Couple at 11, Honeymooners at 11.30, Star Trek at midnight, then two episodes of twilight zone at 1. That was the line up from my elementary school days, right into my twenties. Then Cheers and other modern sitcoms came in.

This the first time I’ve watched this tv movie. It was great. Tony Randall and Jack Klugman picked up right where they left off with the television series. They stayed true to their characters. Even Penny Marshall’s cameo was spot on. This was a fine reminder how great these performers were.

I love that mellow jazz music on the back ground, you can catch a soft balanced groove when a character running the race or a trail of kids riding a canoe or a grandfather flying his plane it's very sentimental how every walk of life wants a friend to hold on to to break those depressed measure. life is too sweet let's live for today.

I'll admit I was hesitant to watch this being a huge fan of the Odd Couple. I am not a big fan at all of recastings. I was especially disappointed to hear that Al Molinaro wouldn't be reprising his role as Murray and Janis Hansen would not be reprising her role as Gloria. But seeing Tony and Jack together again made it worth the watch. Absolutely histerical and men of Genius. I was also happy to see Penny Marshall return as Myrna and Garry Walberg return as Speed. Overall it was a very good watch and a great feel good story and now I regret being hesitant to watch it in the first place. Thank you so much for the upload 👍☺️

So touching that the plot of this was based on the real life relationship of Randal and Klugman. Jack said Tony was one of the first people to reach out to him in the hospital, told him to get as much of his voice back as he could and they would do a road show Odd Couple. Jack initially told Tony he was nuts, no one would come to see it with his voice so squeaky but Tony would not let up! And finally Jack agreed, it was a great success and he continued to work albeit at a much less pace than before. I watched Larry King the night Randal passed and Klugman was on the show. The pain and sorrow Klugman showed proved what a wonderful friendship they had. Both were strong willed guys BTW. They had one skirmish early on with Randal telling Klugman how to play a scene. Klugman told him "Tony, we've both been in the business over 30 years, I won't tell you what to do, so don't tell me what to do and we'll get along". Tony agreed and they never had an issue again. Garry Marshall, on the other hand, did admit that there were a lot of battles during the show, mainly due to Tony but Jack sometimes would have issues too. But that's what great performers sometimes bring to the table. We the audience were just luck to see the greatest sitcom stars since Gleason and Carney.

Hat's off to Penny Marshall for appearing in this reunion show. This was 1993, and she had already been a sit com star in Laverne and Shirley and was fresh off of recently directing three big and successful movies (Big, Awakenings, A League Of Their Own). Many Hollywood types would have considered themselves too big or consider a TV novelty show as something beneath them at the peak of their career, but Penny was never a pretentious person, and obviously must have felt a very warm sentiment towards Klugman and Randall in not only making an appearance in recreating her Myrna role from 20 years prior, but actually contributing plenty of scenes and dialogue.

A man of GREAT courage! Yes, I'm sure his friend TONY RANDALL was his "crutch to lean on" and God Bless him for urging Mr.Klugman to come back into public life. However, if he didn't have the will and drive to do it himself he'd've NEVER made it! How ironic that it'd be Tony Randall, the picture of health, who would precede his friend into the great mystery which awaits us all. I know they're BOTH giving command performances again together up in Heaven and the rumbles of thunder you hear occasionally on those classically "HHH" NY nights? That's the angels roaring with laughter. God Bless the memories and work of both these great souls. What a privilege and miracle it is that not just us but generations to follow will get to laugh as hard as we did at their performances. Kudos to the AUTHOR of the original work... ie. Neil Simon, for giving us this wonderful comedy and commentary on life and true friendship. BRAVO SIR! BRAVO!!!!

I loved Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon in the original movie and in the "Grumpy Old Men" series. They also played Oscar and Felix in other movies here and there. Jack Klugman had some big shoes to fill in the TV series, but he did it perfectly. Jack Klugman and Tony Randall were as good as the original actors. Also loved Jack Klugman in "Quincy, M.E." and "Match Game." I always thought that Charlie and Alan Harper from "Two and a Half Men" were based on Oscar and Felix. I think other people might have said this. That must be why the show was so great.

And the original Gloria as well as the original Edna. This Gloria was nothing like the sitcom Gloria. I remember this Gloria played Judy Benjamin' s mother in Private Benjamin . It was great seeing Oscar, Felix and Myrna together again though. And for once I actually agreed with Felix on this 1.

Yep, they even did a Black Odd Couple with Demond Wilson (Lamont from Sanford and Son ) and Ron Glass (from Barney Miller) They did a female version of it, and a more recent version of it. I do have to say though Tony had the honking down great though.

@Putin TheGreatOne It really says something that out of all the duos that played Oscar and Felix the two that people remember and love most are Klugman and Randall. That says a lot about how powerful their chemistry was and how perfect the tv show was that it's to this day the most successful and popular version.

Klugman and Randall were TRUE comedic geniuses! Way better than Walter Mathew and Jack Lemon who played Oscar and Felix in the movie prior to the great TV series. As for this 1993 tv movie, in all my many years watching the original 1970s Odd Couple tv series, I've never seen or even heard of this tv movie. I only hopped around on this video, but, from what I've seen of it, it's dry as dust, and in no way a good or fair representation of the classic 1970s tv series.

I remember when this was being advertised and how excited I was. Then I realized how many of the original actors weren't there and it just wasn't the same. Interesting how they went back to the original apartment from the 1968 movie and Season One of the TV show.

Salute to NEAL HEFTI who actually composed the catchy, famous Odd Couple theme first for the original movies, then it was featured in the tv series. Shame on the producers for not giving him credit in the beginning credits. Maybe Charles Fox, who was credited with "Music," added more music or rearranged Hefti's theme. (Maybe they mentioned Hefti in the closing credits? UPDATE/EDIT I did see Hefti's name tucked into the end credits, but it should have been in the beginning, just as Henry Mancini is given credit for his "Pink Panther" theme although others now add additional music) Hefti also composed the theme song for tv's Batman series, exquisite soundtracks for at least 2 comedic movies ("How To Murder Your Wife" & "Sex & The Single Girl") and wrote many compositions & arrangements for The Count Basie Orchestra as well as playing as one of the Musicians in it.

Thanks for posting! Not great, but reunion shows very seldom are. But there were a few nice moments sprinkled about. It was cool to see Garry Walberg reprise his role of "Speed." However, I think this really should have been done in front of a live audience. That's where Tony and Jack found their energy and magic.
