Usually I like The Northern Lights but this was a misfire IMO. Didn't do much for me. Not the worst I've heard but the song just feels a bit sloppy and unorganized. He's done some great songs in the past though like Teenage Wasteland. Hey man I dont know why you ignored my other messages but if you didn't want to do the concert or couldn't you can just say so. Its cool and I would understand. I just thought it would be fun and I was trying to organize it. Got some other people that want to go too. You've never seen The Midnight in concert so I thought you might enjoy the opportunity. I would have just appreciated an acknowledgement one way or the other.

Not sure about this one tbh. It sounds like there's a great song underneath somewhere but the arrangement is a bit of a mess. Love the saxophone flutters but everything else 🤔🫤

Yeah I think there are too many tracks or something. I had to give it a second listen because at first I thought there were some weird polyrhythms or something going on but I think it's the reverb on the sax is too thick and too long to where it reverberates past the beat, snare drum mixed a little loud, and there is a part right about 1:44 where they move the synth pad up a half or whole step for about 6 seconds - I think Jon noticed it too. I think all the ingredients are there but there are too many and it makes the meal a mix of too many conflicting flavors

I think he started as a "bedroom producer" making low-fi content (which is okay) but hasn't improved while there are now many other artists out there doing a fantastic job mixing/mastering. His mixes are 99% very center-focused without decent instrument/stereo-separation and also way to much muddy mid-bass. Putting the technical aspects aside his earlier stuff ("Say Goodbye", "Teenage Wasteland" ...) pleases me very much.

@@syntheee I've given both of those earlier song suggestions a listen and they're ok. Not really feeling 'Say Goodbye' but 'Teenage Wasteland' is growing on me. It has a great video as well 👌
