I was actually at that Bandits vs Seals game lol, quite a good game too. My Dad has been a fan of them ever since they started in 1992, and he was the one that introduced me to the game. I’m really glad he did, I’ve been going to games whenever I get the chance, the atmosphere alone makes it worth it. Go Bandits!

That’s great! My dad played a similar role in my love for lacrosse. I will always connect the sport with spending time with him. I’m glad to hear you’ve kept at it, you’re lucky to be a bandits fan, they’re a great team. But respectfully, go Mammoth!

Love the NLL. Back in the day, Portland had the Lumberjaxs, and there isn't a day that goes by where I don't think about em. I wish the NLL would come back to Portland. We have such a unique and home grown lax community here in Oregon.

I have a brother I don't get along with the best, or at least haven't historically. He's not into sports, at all, but I managed to convince him to go to a seals game with me this past year (my first lax game too), and it was an amazing bonding experience and he got into it like crazy it was awesome

Aye! Glad you decided to finally get into the NLL! Couple things: The NLL got rid of the East-West conferences in favor of a unified standings system starting this season. Previously there were 7 teams in the West and 8 in the East which created two problems. 1. Some weirdness in the playoffs which would be the top 4 of the East, the top 3 of the West and then a wild card slot on the West side for the next best team with a tie going to the western team. This meant that eastern teams had a slight advantage of getting into the playoffs and the finals almost invariably being a western team vs an eastern team. The second problem it created was discussion around future expansion teams always was centered around "well it has to be in the West because they only have 7 to the East's 8". Unified standings will mean the top 8 teams make it to the playoffs regardless of location and future expansion isn't pigeon-holed into a western location. The new commissioner Brett Frood seems to have a really great vision for the future of the NLL which has me excited for whatever comes next. I recommended The Back of the Bird podcast which is 3 NLL guys interviewing various lacrosse players if you want some insight into the BTS and history of the league!

Also as a Knighthawks fan I feel obligated to defend them. While the Bandits are the most successful Pegula team and has the biggest fan turnout in the league (they're currently the longest continuous team in one location which helps) the Knighthawks get a pretty solid turnout considering Rochester is smaller than a lot of the other market cities and while the current Knighthawks franchise was started in 2019, the old Knighthawks franchise was one of the most successful teams in the league and won three years in a row (the only team to do it). That franchise was then moved to Halifax and took our championships with them. The current coach, of the second era Knighthawks Mike Hasen, is the same coach that won three years in a row with the original franchise and the team looked good last year and even better this year.

The success of smaller markets like ROC (my NLL team) BUF, and Albany all around each other gives me hope for the PLL dividing up regions as time goes on. As excited as I am for expansion markets to grow the game, I do hope so see a CT team,an upstate NY team or two, and Long Island and some form of the Bayhawks come back. The success of smaller market NLL teams gives me hope. The NLL gets the smaller markets so right, for the most part. They honor heritage and rivalry in a way field lacrosse leagues have yet to replicate Thanks for continuing to put out lax content my guy. As a writer and a fan it warms me to see others with the same passion for the creator’s game. You can always count on me for a comment to appease the Almighty Algorithm. Happy holidays and looking forward to more NLL coverage and your Champ Series takes.

As a Canadian living in the States, let me say this a little differently: "The lacrosse season has just ended. The playoffs are over and the championship has just finished." You turn on the TV and see some familiar players playing on a big field with no boards. They have funny helmets and strange 6-foot long sticks. But they even have some players I even recognize from the NLL. I'm a little surprised to see that it's all ready the 3rd week of the season." Also, pretty unfair that my favorite PLL teams had to play their first 2 games without their best players because they were playing that 3-game championship series you were talking about!

I'm also a Mammoth fan, my dad has been watching them ever since they debuted in 2001. I just went to the Warriors VS Mammoth game and that comeback was insane. I think with Cupido finally back we're going to start getting transition goals more frequently and I think we'll be able to make to the finals for the third time in a row if we play as good as we did this week, hopefully even winning it!
