This is just gorgeous. His words on skateboarding and how it molded him as a young kid and taught him so many life lessons throughout his adolescence is so beautifully said. This is beyond inspiring. It’s so crazy how my love for skateboarding hasn’t ever dwindled even a little bit, I’m 32 years old and after 20+ years on a board, I still find myself skating 2-3 days a week with my ridiculously busy schedule. It’s a necessity and blessing for me daily. The day will come when I’ll be too old to throw myself down a gap or stairs, but I’ll be damned if I won’t be bombing hills or thrashing bowls till I’m 60-70. Lord willing. Xoxoxo to skateboarding; till death do us part...

His vert at the combine was 35" so not outrageous but pretty good for a compact dude. If he had actually popped and caught that kickflip as high as he jumped it would have been really impressive.

The feeling you get when you land something on a skateboard for the first time or do something nuts and all your boys / spectators do the OOOOOOOHHHH. Its one of the best feelings ever and those memories can last a lifetime. Its probably hard for a person who has never skated to appreciate the feeling. Skating is different.

He seems like a reasonably intelligent guy so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. That said, most players contracts say they can't skate or ski or even ride motorcycles and even if that's not the case with him, I wouldn't be filming it. Still, cool video, cool guy, he rips.

Skating is the one thing that unites a lot of different people from different backgrounds together. It’s always been a real brotherhood

John you are a breath of fresh air thanks for sharing your amazing story. Skate or die!

It just shows how many "hidden" skaters we have in society. There are plenty of "sleepers" out there who used to skate and occasionally pick up the board for a few sessions here and there. Many of them (including myself) watch skateboarding videos on a regular basis and can't resist the urge to pick the board up again after enough inspiration from the established skaters. You don't choose skateboarding, skateboarding chooses you!

I agree, i am in high school, and literally nobody knows I skate, not even my friends. I skate with people that don't go to my school. I just never really thought about mentioning it to people. Their are skaters at my school but they aren't that good, and on the last day of my senior year I have decided I'm going to do a backside flip off the 7 stair in the front of my school (I'm super consistent at them). I hope that it shakes some people up haha
