In Colorado, we are able through Medicaid or Medicaid Waivers to be able to be paid family caregivers for our children with extensive medical needs. I know a handful of other states have similar programs. I’m hoping your state may have a similar program. You are doing an amazing job with him. I’m so sorry about the news and the miscommunication. ❤

It doesn’t matter where we are until God is with us. A little testimony to give you hope: I’m 22 and I have 3 chronic and very painful disease since 2 years old. My body has grown in pain. Some days ago, I had one of my terrible peaks of absurd pain, and while I was screaming I said "Jesus I don't care where I am now, I prefer to stay here and suffer knowing that you are with me, that I am healthy but without you", and the pain has gradually gone. I am not healed yet, but on this occasion God assisted me. And he will provide, always. Stay strong in Christ.

That is a crazy miscommunication!! I would be like are you sure you're looking at the right results? I can't imagine the disappointment. All we want is our kids to be healthy and happy and I'm sure it's hard when these roadblocks are in the way for Sully to be fully healthy. Praying for your family.

Amen! Standing in prayer for sully and you both for strength and wisdom. My son had a kidney surgery at Seattle children’s and it was hard. Definitely appreciate the doctors but also advocated like heck for him and we got to keep his kidney. God is good and He’s got you 3 in His arms. ❤

This is a tough blow for sure. I'm so sorry. Not the news you wanted just like getting the news prior to his birth. You made the decision to bring that sweet child into this world and in time he will get to do things like other kids. Just being here for now is enough, I watch my adult son struggle daily being on the spectrum and he's a fantastic Dad taking care of spectrum kids. He's amazing and so is your son!

Also I 100% understand Dad not working full time. My husband and I get lots of comments about him missing work for some appointments and super tough times too. We’re in this together and support is so underrated. We wouldn’t have had kids if we weren’t both planning to be hands on parents sharing the load. Even psychologically, that’s a lot to go through day in day out and maybe at a pinch one of you could do it on your own (maybe it’s not physically possible, I’m not sure), …but my goodness, what I do know is no one wants that load on their shoulders solo. You guys are awesome being there for each other and Sully. You don’t have to explain yourselves to anyone. Your parents obviously want to help and so I hope they continue to be in the position where they can, and where you guys can stay with them as long as you need….and that your KZread blows up so it pays the other bills 😂❤

Hello! I just found your channel through a short on KZread, and I will definitely be praying for your sweet boy and for you both! He is absolutely adorable! Your channel caught my attention because I have a good friend who just had a kidney transplant in April. She went for so long searching for a donor, on dialysis, and not able to do much but focus on staying healthy and alive. I do know the amount of time that is consumed with this illness. The miracle here is, after so many people offered to donate a kidney, it took what seemed like forever to find her match. The lady that donated her kidney was actually a member of our own church! They grew up in church together, knew each other well, but weren’t really close. They are definitely family now! The day before their surgery, we had such a beautiful service and God’s presence was so strong! The surgeries went so smoothly and the donor was back at church in just a few weeks. The recipient is doing well, and has had just a couple of minor setbacks, but we have a Mighty God Who is with her every step of the way! I just felt led to share this with you and hope and pray it will bring you some encouragement and comfort! I will be praying for your family! 🙏🏼❤️

I am sorry this happened to you guys. I really do wish I could donate my kidney but I have other health problems that would keep me from doing it. I do know a couple people that have passed away that are registered organ donors. If you can’t find a living donor you can always look into getting one from someone who is deceased. But there is another donor out there for Sully. You just have to find them. Maybe try seeing if another person in your family is a match for Sully and can donate to him.

Definitely, God’s plan will always be better… just hard because we had thought this was it! The five months of wasted time is the hardest part. But He will provide and we will be faithful in the meantime! Thank you for supporting our family and celebrating and weeping with us!

God is going to save him, it was risky for you and I know you want to save your kid life but at the same time he needs you ok. God knows what he is doing!!

Mom and Dad I feel your pain. Hopefully they will find baby Sully a perfect kidney. You were saying a kidney transplant last 25 or less and that he will need multiple kidney transplants in the future so perhaps this is God's plan. Taylor can bless him in the future. Sully can get Social Security and you can get paid by the state and some times the county and Medicaid to be Sully's care giver. Hopefully this helps.

Perhaps a kidney from a child around his age or a little older would be better than an adult kidney from his mother. It was tough! They do not transplant children’s organs into children. The kidney had to be full sized, because a transplanted organ would grow with him! It’s a lengthy process for sure. We’re hoping for a living donor!

I don't know how I came across your channel, but after watching a couple of your short videos, I realized that I have a similar condition with my kidney. I had never heard of a duplex kidney, so I looked it up. I actually have a unilateral bifid ureter, which is a type of duplex kidney anomaly. I had never heard of it referred to as a duplex kidney. Only as bifurcated. I had surgery to dilate the ureter when I was 3. It hasn't given my any issues throughout my life except that I got my first 2 kidney stones in 2015. I asked the doctor about my kidney and he said that yes, he had noticed it on the CT scan. I thought this was a rare defect. He made it seem like it was unremarkable. I have alot more studying to do now!

Oh wow! Yes not sure if they’re the same thing, but sounds similar. I would never have known I had it before the CT scan. We were told it’s in 3-7% of the population, but fairly uncommon!

Please focus on this "you can give him a kidney when he is an adult".. this is really important also!.. i hope God provide another perfect match for sweet Sully

You can have the Cleveland’s Clinic (for a fee of course,) do a chart review and give you a second opinion. That a radiologist would say that there was only one artery on ct scan, and a chief of service would say no, is questionable. Every doctor can have a bad day. It is possible that the chief of service could have had a bad day. Get another opinion!

I don’t get how someone missed this in a big hospital system like Seattle Children’s. I get people are human and make mistakes, but how many people viewed the scans before the Chief?

If the CT scan said 1 artery for your smaller kidney I would push back on that. Maybe even demand another CT scan/ultrasound of that kidney to double.check. it sounds like the cheif was very confused and mixing up info during your conversation and he could be the one that's mistaken. Maybe get a second opinion from a different transplant dr./hospital if you have too. Sometimes as parents of a special needs kiddo it's so hard because we are their only advocate and it seems like people are against us or don't take us seriously at times. Don't be afraid to let mama and papa bear come out to get things done if you have too ❤ as an RN our healthcare system is not what is used to be at all. But I know and will be praying everything works out for Sulley no matter what. Everything happens for a reasons and God's timing is always perfect ❤
