Another Excellent Video Tom. You got me wanting that Diffuser Plate for myMaster-Touch Charcoal Grill 22" I went to the Weber site and do not see it available unless you buy the entire grill so Hopefully in the future they will offer it seperate. I got my Master-Touch about 6 months ago and it came with the drop in lid holder on the side instead of the hinge. Mine also came with a warming rack. Keep the Smoke Rollin!!!

First of all, thanks for the video. I first saw a video on this grill when it was released in Europe. I immediately wanted one. My thinking was that it was a cheaper version of the charcoal Summit grills. Second, I gave some thought to the placement of the top vent and thermometer on the Weber kettles. Weber seems to suggest indirect cooking with their charcoal baskets on either side of the grill with a drip pan and the food in the middle. With that set up the configuration of the vent and thermometer makes some sense. Also, if you were cooking with the charcoal ring and diffuser, the vent and thermometer should work. Please do a video using the charcoal ring and diffuser soon! Keep the vids coming!

I agree 100%, and with concern to smoke wood, you can still place on the side of the baskets furthest from the vent. The meat only absorbs smoke for so long anyway.

This fuel ring and diffuser is perfect for me because it frees up the entire grate. That diffuser also makes it irrelevant where the top vent and thermometer are. I have lots of mouths to feed so three rack of ribs at a time minimum for me. This gets it done.

Tom, great video.. Just a note that the hinge is above the wheel for Stability. When the top is open, most of its weight is supported on the wheel that is right below the hinge, and the maximum stability is reached when the weight is carried over one of the legs (or wheels).

First time I have seen this vid, thanks. Just to let you know, I have had one of these for a couple of years now, and I can tell you all the master touch grills are stainless steel NOT chrome plated. Great piece of kit for the money. If I have one complaint, it is that the lid does not open far enough so when you are turning your food and there is a bit of smoke you get it in the face.

Tom - I have a 14, 18 and 22" wsm. Been cooking for a few years - and have now started catering small on the side. Obviously the issue I have is no dedicated grill/searing unit. Im between the master touch or the kettle premium/performer. Sometimes I cook on site so I think the perforner is out

The lid handle is offset from the bowl handle because it needs to be hinged and open on the wheel leg for balance. Then the bowl handle obviously needs to be in line with the fixed leg. I have one and its brilliant.

Grill looks great, hinge, grill gauge. It almost seems like the diffuser set up along with the hinge-top vent alignment purposely makes you set up a SnS the way that you did. Doing it this way as you saw puts the handle next to or over the SnS coals. Do you think that the heat, especially on sear, would affect the handle? Clever for Weber to be looking over their shoulder and address the competition 🤔

looks good but i hate the exhaust vent being on the wrong end of the lid, it ruins this whole grill for me, i just stick with a hingeless weber to cook properly, lol. the slow n sear side will have to be where the plastic lid lift is🤢, and when you open it you have to reach past the hot coals to get to the food🤢. Every one knows the exhaust vent and thermometer should be on the food side. Either way love yor vids bud.

I really have to wonder about Weber these days. Vent in the wrong place, no probe holes etc etc Yeah you can unbolt the lid but with no top handle how do you manage it? They blew it.

That so silly that they put the vent in the back. You have to reach over the hot coals and maneuver around the hinged lid to put in a large roast or brisket. And for Pete's sake, put the dang thermometer on the right side of the lid! Sheesh! The SNS kettle beats this one in my opinion. Not even close!

I bought this grill and I had older model Master touch, and I have big complaint to Weber about air vent position on lead, because I grill 99 percent of food on indirect and I position food under air vent on second stage. Very disappointing chance in design, I have to detach my lead all the time to have a freedom of air vent

Think the hinge location is stability. If it was center mounted in the rear, between the wheels, swinging the lid open with force would cause the body to tip back. Think about how a hand truck standing up easily falls back with a push of your finger.
