On one hand it can be embarassing. However there is also the thought that much the same way that we have gotten to discover our history and the history of other civilizations is from its trash. The refuse that was left behind or couldn't be carted away is left to be discovered by the future seeking to understand its past. We can also take solace that if for some reason we collapse again maybe that bottle could be enough proof that we were here.

the pressure vessel, for one thing. limiting factor (this dsv) has a titanium spherical pressure vessel, which is just geometrically better at handling the pressures of the deep ocean. titan had a cylindrical and open pressure vessel made of carbon fiber, which is NOT a good material for withstanding pressure at depth. furthermore, limiting factor was made using purpose built parts instead of cobbled together junk. limiting factor also follows basic dsv design principles that have been around since the trieste, while oceangate decided they would completely disregard safety and would simply redesign from the ground up and ignore all standards. limiting factor is also rated for much, much deeper water than the titan ever was. it’s also been to the titanic safely.

Again, her skin colour should have nothing to do with it. Do you know why she should be included? Not because she's a woman or black, but because she's esteemed in the field. Do you want an egalitarian, fair society? I assume you do. So stop talking about people's immutable characteristics as if they matter. Do you know what it's called when you judge someone based on their immutable characteristics such as age, gender or race? It's called *discrimination.* I was set to sub your channel, but in two videos in a row now I've seen you discriminate based on race and gender, not merit, even though both are deserving of credit on their work (I would guess, anyway). Why are you in the ideological trap when you're ostensibly about science. Such a shame. You choose these people because of things they can't change and didn't choose rather than acknowledge their _actual_ effort. Shame on you. ESRI and Dr. Wright had supported previous expeditions and it was absolutely appropriate for her to operate the first full ocean-depth sidescan sonar in the same place the Trieste dove in 1960. In the same way that a (male, Caucasian) citizen of France was the sonar operator when we went searching for the Samuel B. Victor is a legend and makes all of Texas proud. Such a good person
Mad respect for organizations/companies who design their submersible vehicles with “WHEN x happens” not “IF x happens” Also listening to each other as the professionals they are.
The Titan was a ToysRUs junk compared to the Limiting Factor sub. Victor is truly a great person and not cocky or arrogant at all. The sub is DNV GL certified to 11,000 meters. Truly cutting edge sub construction technology and operations, unlike OceanGrate.

I saw Victor on CNN during the Titan rescue. He was critical of the carbon fiber and cylindrical design of the Titan. Deep Sea Subs can only be made of metals like Titanium and steel, period! Using other options like composites is looking for certain death.
I am absolutely facinated with the submersible and the crew! I have never even seen or been to the ocean! Im in Alberta Canada and in land locked. lol.... Ty so much for videoing your expeditions!!! One day i will visit the ocean 🪸🌊...

I AM ADDRESSING YOU TODAY TO TELL YOU THAT YOU ARE THE MAN THAT THE LOST SUBMARINE NEEDS TO BE RESCUE.

Much respect to Victor for including other ethnic groups of people and give them a chance to experience the deep ocean.
Thanks sir Victor and team for the videos... watching your videos feels like we are in challenging deep already and showing us what down there, what looks like ..so amazing,...please make more videos.. thanks...❤❤
Did you considered exploring Bermuda triangle bottom? That would be interesting! So much questions about that place! Thank you for showing us something that I can just dream of for whole my life. Would be awesome if I could join your team one day. But that's just my dream. Wish you all the luck. Good people and fearless explorers! ☮️❤️
There’s one shipwreck I wish they could go looking for and that is the Andrea Gail based on the movie The Perfect Storm. I still have a reason to think it sunk somewhere southwest of sable island.
I have been watching these vids and I am fascinated. However, the Pressure Drop is amazing, the Limiting Factor is also amazing, but have 4k cameras on the landers and the LF, what you see there is even more fascinating so please instead of fancy fly bys of the pressure drop and the LF, show us the sea floor and the things you see there.
So Cool
I love that he included the native peoples in these expeditions, and it wasn’t just foreigners going down there by themselves and not caring about the natives getting to see their own lands and waters.

the pressure vessel, for one thing. limiting factor (this dsv) has a titanium spherical pressure vessel, which is just geometrically better at handling the pressures of the deep ocean. titan had a cylindrical and open pressure vessel made of carbon fiber, which is NOT a good material for withstanding pressure at depth. furthermore, limiting factor was made using purpose built parts instead of cobbled together junk. limiting factor also follows basic dsv design principles that have been around since the trieste, while oceangate decided they would completely disregard safety and would simply redesign from the ground up and ignore all standards. limiting factor is also rated for much, much deeper water than the titan ever was. it’s also been to the titanic safely.
@gatorguy4204

in general the difference is this: the limiting factor is a good dsv, while the titan simply was not.

Dawn clearly has the qualifications and merit to EARN a spot on the crew and in the sub. Why does the color of her skin matter? Does her increased melanin make the sonar perform better?
Would have been nice if the submersible had been equipped to remove the bottle. Saddens me to see trash in the ocean like that. Especially when its in such a remote area.

Well, I would disagree. There is life down there utterly unlike what exists on the surface of the Earth. What we found down there probably bears more resemblance to what we will find on other planets than what we find on the Earth's surface. We are building tools to find life not just here, but potentially on other planets under insane levels of pressure..
it amazes me people still think a ancient shark could exist down in a trench, its a nuclear wasteland down there, life must be harsh as hell to exist down there

The only reason you included them is as tokens to your pathology.

Dr. Dawn Wright was there as Chief Scientist of ESRI and a world-renowned expert in ocean mapping. Roberts - because he was the most experienced person for that specific mission. The best person for this mission, and one who had supported many of our previous diving expeditions, was sitting in the right-hand seat.
