Finally!!!!! I've been waiting for this!!!! I loved the 'look' of the Sako 85's but had to return a couple of these rifles, because of the upward ejection into the scope, and resulting bounce back into the receiver problem. Whew!!! Now my (and certain others') boycott is over! Tikkas are great too, but I like the wood etc of Sako better.

Hi mate, I have a tikka. They’re essentially the same barrel and trigger group as the sako. Both great. The tikka is less than half the price but I carry mine a long way and the magazine protrudes a bit and it annoys me to carry after a while. Apart from that it has been spectacular. Hope that helps 🙂

Can anyone recommend how I could get this Sako 90 Hunter Stainless model in the USA? They are available in many countries but apparently Sako has only sent the Hunter in blued but not the stainless version to the USA. I really love the look of stainless with a nice walnut stock. Is there a way to get it imported? Or custom ordered? Or am I out of luck?

The person racking off in the back was burning my head out. You was waiting for them to bang the rifle every time you spoke. Next time do the talking bit when some one isn't trigger happy in the back but other than that good review and next time mute the bloke chatting on with his self in the back ground.

I'm actually pissed at Sako for allowing that ejection issue to continue all those years and never addressing the issue. Now they admit the issue was there and the new 90 will fix that. Shame on them. If I were you I'd check your gun to see if it ejects into the scope and the casing will properly eject every time. If yours is a bad one then I'd try and take it back.

@@ryangardener242 What I was hoping you'd conclude from what I was saying is yours might have an ejection issue. If it does, that could be your way out of having to own a rifle that you might not want anymore. Some folks had ejection issues and Sako bought them back. That would allow you to purchase the 90. Now that the ejection issue is solved then I'll be buying a 90 myself. Do an internet search to see how to test for an issue and if your rifle could be affected. It's my understanding it happened mostly with larger caliber rifles.

@@ryangardener242 There are some good YT videos showing the problem too. Keep in mind that the Sako 90 rifle might not be available in the configuration you're looking for, and it might even be a year or two in the works. That might be an issue too. Good luck with whatever you do. The 85's are excellent rifles too so long as yours isn't affected. It's my understanding that the rifles were somewhat picky when it come to the size of turrets as well.

As of Jan 7, 2024 where are the standard length actions? Ie. 270, 30-06, 6.5x55, 8x57, 9.3x62 or even the 270/300 WSMs? Not a one in any gun shops I can find in Canada? Sako’s web shows the calibers but no specs on any of the above. And of course no email system to contact them. Only a ph #. So far there is short action.308 length and 7 Rem/300 Win Mags around. They are coming in at $2745 + tax which in Alberta is $2883 and yet they still can’t put on a decent recoil pad. Only that hockey puck rubber thing they keep using.

Not sure about squeezing trigger while rifle pointed 20o upward. Always assume a rifle is loaded and fire off the action pointing in safe direction

All the sako 85 with medium or large action will hit the scope guaranteed. Guys that say there’s doesn’t hit just don’t realize it or are lying . When the clip is full of shells it doesn’t hit as hard but the last one will hit hard as it has room to drop down in the extractor a bit . They are a good gun and will usually eject the empty casing if the bolt is worked hard enough. But they HIT the scope every time and it doesn’t not matter how high your rings are or how small your turrets are . They hit almost dead Center of the scope tube. Trust me I have tried everything. Don’t ever hope to buy a sako 85 that won’t hit .

Thank for the video but a stock can never be good with open sights AND a scope if no adjustable cheek comb is available. Pick one. You are using your jawbone on it.
