The new 911 GT3 is a very big deal. As the closest connection between the 911 road cars and race cars, it sets the temperature of the brand. And the headline with this new GT3 is that it's 17 seconds quicker around the Nurburgring than the old car, despite being bigger in every measure, while having the same power output as the old car. How'd they do that? Racing science. Matt and Zack have a good first drive in the new GT3.

It "never runs out" because it takes 6000 rpm to get to the torque peak. You could probably produce exactly the same feel in a Supercharged S2000, except it'd be faster, and have double wishbones at BOTH ends of the car.

Yes, but having said that, Chris Harris (for it is he....) put 1,000 road miles on the new car in 24 hrs to run it in (the 1st UK car had only 10 miles on it) prior to thrashing it around a test track, and was absolutely clear the new GT3's ride on the road is better (less harsh) than the previous model - which contradicts Matt's experience. Best part is always Matt getting nervous when Zack drives. Loving Zack being on full time to do the two takes. Also ring times are impressive but the track itself also evolves and gets a bit faster over time.

@ 4:35 its actually faster than a 918 if im not mistaken. the gt3 did a 6:55 considering the old layout of the track where the 918 did a 6:57. this makes the new gt3 2 seconds faster than a 900 hp hybrid 918 on the nordschleife.

Love your excitement showing the new GT3. The car is an amazing piece of modern engineering and no other company could built something this bad ass like Porsche. I still prefer the 991.2 when it comes to the body style and size. Might warm up to the new one once I’ve seen it a few times in person. Can’t wait for the GT3RS. Good job!

The precision in which UK and US outlets come out simultaneously with the new GT3 - in the same colour, with same spoiler, the only difference being the side of steering wheel - and Atlantic ocean - kinda works with the car. EINFACH GUT GEMACHT!

LOL. Loved the explanation of the advantages of double wishbone suspension geometry around 8:20. Maybe that's why Mazda had it on the Miata in 1989 ... on *all four corners*. I used to own a first generation Boxster S, and I liked it a lot, but the Porsche "mystique" is pretty hilarious.

I drove a GT3 on track in Vegas and I agree, the lack of torque is noticeable. If I wanted to daily a 911, a turbo is the way to go for normal street driving. However, the GT3 has the best steering and brake feel I've ever experienced.

Spot on review. I recently sold my 991.1 GT3 because I'm just not doing track days anymore and driving the car around town was not great and it's not a great GT because of the noise factor. A Turbo S Cab is on the radar..

This new 992 GT3 wing definitelyy grew on me. Sweet lookin car! Great decisions made when producing this car. Especially glad we don't have to sit around hoping they make a manual trans and it's already available! 😍 I think I prefer the more simple 991 GT3 front hood than this one here. However it's still cool they went for it when designing this car, with all the interesting changes. 🙂

Its actually faster than the 918, they were measured on to different track length standards! Gt3 drove the whole lap and the 918 whole track minus a short stretch on which the nordschleife exits to the Grand prix course and the other way around. So if you subtract the stretch the from the gt3’s lap, it's actually faster
