    Eddie bravo utilised this strategy against his more recent match with Royler. I remember it looked like he let Royler mount him just so he can get a deeper half guard when he recovered which lead to an electric chair.

    Absolutely right 💯Escapes are essential especially with counter attacks 🔥🔥🐍🔥

  • @Elusive_Pete
    @Elusive_Pete3 жыл бұрын

    This is completely ingenious. So the through-line for these principles is pretty much any positional change can turn into a submission threat/attempt. Attack from anywhere once an adjustment is being made.

  • @geofflangdale8127
    @geofflangdale81273 жыл бұрын

    The other aspect of getting submitted from someone who is escaping is the "momentum factor". Like if I'm in bottom mount and someone starts submitting me, I think "well, that serves me right for being in bottom mount, let's start escaping". He already has a superior position. If I'm in top side control and someone starts submitting me, I think "Holy crap! I was meant to be winning! Oh no!". It's like 2 different football games - one goes evenly up to 30-24 with 10 minutes to go, and the side with 30 feels great. A different game goes 30-0, then the losing side scores 24 straight points and we get to 10 minutes to go. Both games are in the exact same position, but the side that was at 30 is freaking out in the second one.

    This is exactly right. Positional grappling is moving to the technique. I have watched for a long time that guys will pass the guard work half clock while the lock down guard Position and finish with a submission from one of the positions. All the while I'm wondering why the guard game isn't actively working for positions and submissions. Doesn't make any since and this video opened that can of worms up. Turning full clock you would be working positions and submissions so why do we freeze into mount guard. When we could change positions inside the roll with submissions attached and stretch them out when they catch something and move back into the roll or into a reverse submission. Thanks for this video it really got the gears Turning.
