I hope that Lionel can make an HO scale version of this with the same features, as well as a piston smoke effect. It would be perfect for me to run on my layout without using the Bachmann speed controller.

Definitely one of my favorite features! It works so much better when it has its own smoke unit

Very beautiful locomotive, its doesn't get any better then the Big Boy in my opinion, its easily my favorite engine of all time. Congratulations on purchasing one Sam. Great review!

Sam, nice detailed review. Great shots, good closeups. We bought our first vision line, also our first big boy but we have constant derailments on one of our four 072 curves. Its level there, no bumps but the curve may vary from a natural curve by 1/16 inch. We may try to set up a separate 072 circle off our trainboard and see if ours derails. We have spent hours so far looking at that hard to reach curve. All our other big engines have no problem on that curve. Hopfully, we will solve our problem. Gary

Without a doubt this is probably the most in-depth review of the 2023 Lionel Vision Line Big Boy that I have seen. Don't get me wrong, there are other great reviews, but I feel yours is the best I have seen (with the force coupler feature, wheel slip effect, etc.)- I was fortunate to receive the oil burning version of this engine from my wife this past Christmas, and I ran it for a short time before I put it away (I need to re-work my layout to allow for it to run). But I have a question that you or maybe someone else can answer: I know my version is an oil burning version, but does it have the ashpan glow? I know that would not be prototypical (at least I think) but it would still be cool to have. I have e-mailed Lionel regarding this and their customer service wasn't sure. If you or someone else can clue me in, that would be great! Like a said a great review! I have also subscribed! A++++

It does not have the ash pan glow! neat feature from Lionel by not adding it

Thanks so much for this video! I have the same one and was not sure how the whistle detail piece fit on the locomotive and that it needed to be removed when putting the locomotive back in the box. Could not find anything about it in the instructions... Thanks for the help!

I didn't see the wheel slip feature? I think you edited it out! 😮

I would suggest better lighting in the making of your videos.

Wrong design there is no smoke coming out on the top cab in a real life it goes on bottom see this is why i dont like.lionel design im happy im an MTH fans

Say, I watched the video twice after reading your comment, n didn't see any smoke coming out the top of the cab? Can you leave the time you saw the smoke coming out of the top o the cab!?
