Ben, I love your videos on these model trains. Losing the invoice!! (of course for your protection-😁) When I was young, my father would once in a great while bring a train in through the back door so he wouldn't have to defend his purchase to my mom. Of course at that time, the trains were MPC, postwar and eventually prewar O gauge and standard gauge. Did it pass the "smell test"? I am so happy for your find and purchase. The latest Visionline Big Boy is the one I am seeking as well. I have the JLC/Legacy Big Boy from 2007, an MTH PS2 Big Boy (which is a pencil on wheels!! [too long]) and a Sunset 3rd Rail model from 2002-5. I am also eagerly awaiting a Visionline C&O Allegheny. MAN these trains are addictive, worse than alcohol or cocaine!!! Happy railroading!!!

I agree 100% I've been wanting a big boy for yrs!!! But on Ebay, them greedy thieves smh. But I got lucky my local dealer had a challenger left over from the 19' run had it about 2yrs now the 1st yr having it spent more time at lionel for warranty repairs then in the layout. But I still want the big boy😅

I have more HO than I gauge, but I love O too. That's the way I am Ben when I get a new locomotive Ben.😂

got mine and love it ben. I got the 4019 with the elephant ears. wish I had enough cash for this one also. like you I missed out one the first run. so I am glad lionel ran these again. they truly are the crem dela crem of big boys.

I model in HO, but my first train set was a Lionel, and I still love Lionel. I have to say that I think I get almost as much pleasure as you, watching how enthusiastic and happy you are when you unbox a new piece of equipment. What a beautiful model of the Big Boy.

Congratulations, I didn't realize it would be so beautiful. Certainly that might be the most collectible of them all! I got the #4024 Greyhound with the yellow stripe and smoke deflectors since I already have a black #4012 Big Boy, the JLC Legacy from 2006.

The pro tip also applies to new camera gear :) Have fun with the new toy.

Ben, your enthusiasm is contagious!! I am so happy for you, it's quite an addition for your collection. I have an MTH with PS2 from about 2006 and the original Lionel JLC version (with the terrible whistle) from 2007. It's detailing exceeds the MTH model and can rival the Visionline models but it does not have the sound, lighting or all the smoke features. You really are blessed to have two of these monsters. BTW, did they pass the 'new smell' test? LOL Congratulations fellow collector!!

Congratulations on the big boy she sure is a Beauty! I also have 2 big boys coming so I understand the feels ! I got a custom Brady’s trains unit that I’m going to pick up this weekend . And I ordered the big boy super set which haven’t shipped yet ! So gotta wait for the second to come in .

Dude, I love your enthusiasm. New trainitis is a curable disease and you got it bad. One symptom is developing strategies to to hide purchase from the wife. Start by not discussing absolute pricing (relative is OK like "this model is more than average"). But since you've publicly published this video either her or one of her friends already knows... That said, looking forward to getting a 1309 next year.

No sound baffle in the Locomotive. The whistle is tinny and weak in the 2023 Big Boys.

I have the coal fired 4014 version. However mine has an issue the safety steam release spits out fluid I thought maybe it was from shipping but after I let it run with it off and sit it still does it. even after the smoke thinned and I only added 5 drops it still does it even though it says it can take 20 drops

Well said i have the legacy 4014 big boy just wish i knew why when i run it itll stop at certain points then start back up like it loses power or something

@@LawsonRailway If it keeps stopping in the same spot(s) I would say you have a dead spot (s) on your layout. If it happens randomly then I would have then engine checked at a reputable repair model train shop.

Just wondering if you ordered the Big Boy Super Set. I missed out on the earlier runs of the Big Boy, not sure what I was thinking, so I couldn’t miss this iteration. I went all out on the super set as I don’t have many sounds cars.

Hi Ben... is your excursion big boy missing the two red wheels under cab on right side? I ordered one, and worried they are missing. Yours cant be seen in videos.. thx I since learned these red wheels are for emptying the ash pans, so not used on the oil fired versions.

Correct the oil version should not have them, a mistake made on the previous non Visionline version

Mine was supposed to arrive yesterday... darn Fed Ex. Good for you... I don't chase the used market for the same reason and prefer the newest features. My brick n' mortar has a "hot dog" challenger for almost 6k. I told them "that's obscene". I turn my nose to every piece on collectors list. It's a friggin toy for Christ sake.

And you are so dead on about those vultures out there Hoarding things like this away until they feel the time is right then they come out and list them for sale at double if not more of the original price and beware of those listings that start off with that one magical word “RARE” THAT IS THE WORD TO MAKE YOU NERVOUS as a ways and means to manipulate the mind set so beware out there for those characters who look to exploit the week minded to be taken advantage of for personal gain JUST SAYIN HAVE A NICE DAY!!!
