I want a fishing workshop like you have 👍🏼
I agree with most of this , but prefer to finish by putting the hook all the way through and then just skin hook it on the top .. Works for me and I don't go through so many worms.. Thanks for the videos Randy..

I'm with you. That's how I fish a plastic worm, and I use one 90% of the time I'm targeting bass.

The only thing I worry about with this is that the hook all the way through the worm will affect your action. You don't think this is a problem? I'm a new guy just curious and askin questions.

@@keek1337 Try it both ways. No big deal. I feel I get more hookups, but I only get to fish for bass a couple times a year.

@@keek1337 It will not affect the action as I can make it as straight as doing it the other way... I have caught just as many as the other way and saved on worms...
I remember this side hook technique from some of your previous videos and thanks for sharing these tips, for me they really do help out a lot!! Great video Randy!!
Thanks for the refresher!!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!!! 🤠👍
I’m a big Texas rig guy , sometimes those little tweaks is all you need to catch more fish , thanks Randy
Good stuff! Thanks!
Just lost a 5 pounder yesterday on polymer knot hook set. My hook set blew the line up right over the knot. I thought it was just bad luck. Your explanation is exactly what I experienced. Switching knots asap . Thanks Randy.

It's a palomar knot. I have had problems using a palomar when using monofilament.
A double uni is a connection knot for two lines, so if you're just tying to your hook that isn't a double uni. It isn't a single uni either, which is the knot I normally tie.
Thank YOU for putting out great content!! I’m a home butcher, & I’ve learned a lot from Seth ,Scott & the rest … so thanks again!
Good job Randy.
Wow. That helps a lot. Great tip.
You got me on to that knot. Big thanks.
Yep that’s the way I do it and it works great
Great video I don't know the name of that knot but I been using it for 2 years and I love it I use it on everything

Double pitzen
Straight shank hooks don't come though vegetation well. Here in southern WI our lakes are really weedy. Even EWG hooks hang-up too much I've actually gone back to an old-school offset worm hook, since the slimmer profile gets through the weeds better. Maybe I'll try a straight shank hook with a craw or creature bait sometime.

I fish western part of upstate NY alot we have alot of grassy bodies of water. The other week i was punching and was using a heavy duty straight shank hook on one set up and a EWG on another, I noticed the EWG came through the lilly pads way better than the straight shank did which i found strange . Also i was getting way better hook ups on the EWG which went against everything Randy said . Maybe it was just that day but its somthing i def noticed.

You know what they say; "there's more than one way to skin a cat"
Thanks Randy. I know you have forgotten more about fishing than I'll ever know, but my experience has been they swallow the hook if you let them run with it. Ive seen this especially with inexperienced anglers just starting out.
thanks from Montana
Never heard of that toothpick deal. I've always pegged with a bobber stop. Going to try your way this week
Floro sounds like a pain if it needs special knots just to stop it from breaking, I'll stick with mono
Awesome Randy! Thank you for all your years of hard won experience! You are truly a great ambassador of our sport.

Thanks man I appreciate that
The straight shank skin hooked approach does not work in heavy Florida vegetation.
Weird question, but I don't understand Pro contracts. If I buy Aaron Martens hooks or Martens-labeled Roboworm colors, does his family get a piece of the action? I'd like to think his family still enjoying benefits of his genius.
Double pitzen is what the knot is called It's great for spinnerbaits also and doesn't move or slide around.
I tried the side hook but I think my flipping hook was too thick. It wouldn’t last long 5-6 casts then it would come out. was using it on a gambler fat ace

Another great fishing tips. By the way what is the story behind the spittoon trophy?
Rubber band works good for pegging the weight also.
Thanks Randy for teaching your knowledge of real fishing! Can you tell a few stories about Takahiro Omori, as he is my fishing hero. Mahalo from Hawaii!

Is there any better career than being a professional Bass Fisherman? I can’t think of any
How heavy is the weight you are using Randy?
Randy - the hook you are referring to is unclear in your video. Is it truly a G-Finesse? Is it a light wire or heavy cover worm hook? And the pic of it in the video is simply not enough to accurately identify it. There are actually no links in your KZread more section to help. Can you please respond with accurate specific hook?
That's a double San Diego Jam knot. You must have misunderstood Aaron.

Sometimes also called a double pitzen knot.

I've commented the same thing before . He's been saying double uni for at least a year. I guess in his world, that's a double uni LOL.

Why would a professional continue to call this knot incorrectly, when he knows better. It is a double Pitzen, also called a Shaw Grigsby. See Shaws video, which is really clear.

@@jamessipes122 Because, according to him, Aaron Martens called the knot that and he refuses to use a more correct name. Yet Randy will make countless videos about misinformation lol
Good job, Randy!!! I noticed you’re using a tungsten weight instead of Lead. Thanks for not adding Lead to your environment.
Fluro over mono for the Texas rig?
@randyblaukatintuitive

Yep
To those who are smarter than everyone, let me help, it doesn't matter what you call the knot cause you are gonna tie it the same way. Sheesh..
Does correctness not matter anymore Randy? You know that's not a double uni knot. I get that Aaron told you that, or that's what you think you heard, but that knot is no more a double uni than a Megabass vision 110 is a glidebait.
If you tie a palomar knot correctly it has a higher breaking strength than this double pitzen knot without having 3 tag ends
Just do it regular when u measure ur hook. Pull the hook all the way thru then push it back and then forward to just the inside, very lil insides ur bait putting it in side ways is gonna make it bait swim funny.
Dude, If you get a text during a video, ignore it for the time being, then respond after you are done with the video.
That's a three tag knot.
