I agree with most of this , but prefer to finish by putting the hook all the way through and then just skin hook it on the top .. Works for me and I don't go through so many worms.. Thanks for the videos Randy..

The only thing I worry about with this is that the hook all the way through the worm will affect your action. You don't think this is a problem? I'm a new guy just curious and askin questions.

Just lost a 5 pounder yesterday on polymer knot hook set. My hook set blew the line up right over the knot. I thought it was just bad luck. Your explanation is exactly what I experienced. Switching knots asap . Thanks Randy.

A double uni is a connection knot for two lines, so if you're just tying to your hook that isn't a double uni. It isn't a single uni either, which is the knot I normally tie.

Straight shank hooks don't come though vegetation well. Here in southern WI our lakes are really weedy. Even EWG hooks hang-up too much I've actually gone back to an old-school offset worm hook, since the slimmer profile gets through the weeds better. Maybe I'll try a straight shank hook with a craw or creature bait sometime.

I fish western part of upstate NY alot we have alot of grassy bodies of water. The other week i was punching and was using a heavy duty straight shank hook on one set up and a EWG on another, I noticed the EWG came through the lilly pads way better than the straight shank did which i found strange . Also i was getting way better hook ups on the EWG which went against everything Randy said . Maybe it was just that day but its somthing i def noticed.

Randy - the hook you are referring to is unclear in your video. Is it truly a G-Finesse? Is it a light wire or heavy cover worm hook? And the pic of it in the video is simply not enough to accurately identify it. There are actually no links in your KZread more section to help. Can you please respond with accurate specific hook?

Just do it regular when u measure ur hook. Pull the hook all the way thru then push it back and then forward to just the inside, very lil insides ur bait putting it in side ways is gonna make it bait swim funny.
