Urethane drama has been at an all-time high in the bowling world as of late. With new restrictions in place for the PBA, all eyes are on ball brands to see what new options will be made available to consumers. As the Purple Hammer has been a dominant force at the highest levels of play on challenging lane conditions, will the NU Blue continue on to carry the torch? Jeff returns to try them both out on a short pattern, as well as our house shot.

@@wsbproshop I wish! Had a huge collection when I got married in 98. Sadly, many went to the dump, never thought about keeping them. Wish I had. Only older balls I have now are an Omega/R, Clear Wolf, Blue Dot, and Green Messenger.

YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!! just what the doctor ordered! My first ball ever my grandfather took my to Joe Mortellaro's in Batavia, NY when I was 10 back in 1972 and I got the Columbia 300 white dot 10 lbs in purple. This Blue NU looks pretty darn good! Thanks.

Ball reminds me of bowling in the 90’s play down 5-6, hook into pocket and strike. Just picked mine up today and first 7 balls were all strikes.
I like to The fact that the ball is controllable of the end of the pattern. Mines on the way. thanks for the video.🤙🏿🤙🏿

Jeff - Excellent review. Nice to see an obviously accomplished bowler using his thumb and half the revs of the "big bowlers" of today doing videos. I'm a similar type bowler, a little slower speed and maybe a couple more revs. My first ball was a new NIB 14 lb. Manhattan Rubber when I was 12 . Still have my 16 lb. original blue hammer that won me a lot of $ and recognition and I'm still bowling very competitively. I've finally found the one critical ball that's most important to my arsenal late in blocks, finals or on demanding challenge/sport shots. Thx for the review and video, and I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving.

My first ball was a Blue/Green/Silver Tzone. First reactive ball Hammer Big Blue.

The Big Blue was so good. The NU Blue looks pretty similar aesthetically, but definitely has a lot more hook downlane.
My first ball was a 6lb columbia lite dot. It was a gift from Santa in 1979.

What is the layout that you drilled on the NU and is it pin up or pin down?

Jeff drilled his pretty strong-- 3.5" x 45. He likes the extra flare for urethane to help it tip in the back.

Yeah we've definitely noticed that keeping fresh teeth on the Blue is a must
Wish you could have kept the Hopkinsville Purple Hammer, as that would be a really good test with the NU Blue. The Reynosa Purple Hammers are more front to back in motion, while the Hopkinsville Purple Hammers are more left to right/side to side. The NU looks to be more side to side, so that would be a really good test, if you can find one again!

This Blue NU looks promising and I hope Hammer does the NU coverstock with the Black Widow soon. That would be a killer.

@@wsbproshop I agree, and I hope we're right about that. If that's the case, I'm pre-ordering that for sure. Iove my Black Widow Pink Urethane, now that it's banned I would love to see that happen.
