The Brits seem to love the cringe humor. I dont know why. It so uncomfortable. The awkwardness of it is unsettling but they really pull it off in this series.

  • @funkydozer

@@olliefoxx7165 On the whole, Brits don’t find it cringe at all, we appreciate intelligence behind satire, which is why we can instantly identify with critical comedy that is cleverly written like this - if it requires some intellect to work out its nuances, we find it much MUCH funnier. Americans tend to prefer a more direct and obvious kind of slapstick comedy, either verbally or visually, that doesn’t require much thought to ‘get’ but is a lot less critical and therefore more comfortable to laugh at. British Office is a nouvelle cuisine filet mignon medallion with a red wine jus and a lightly crisped asparagus tip, American Office is a giant tub of ice cream. Both totally different, both satisfying in their own right.

I don't know it's just not my kind of humor I guess, the American version is also hard to watch. Something is wrong with me I guess. He's standup is freaking hilarious and is exactly my kind of humor...
