The 103 and Brauner models single-handedly convinced me to continue holding on to my Townsend Labs version Sphere. They're SO ridiculously good just on their own, but then i did something on the suggestion from a friend, and i did a 50-50 blend of both mics together which ended up sounding really cool. But the blend i liked even more was what i call the "Disney Special" - a 50-50 blend of the Brauner and the U87Ai (the 87 Modern model for the Sphere) which is the combo Disney & Pixar love using for every one of their movies! It sounds amazing, and it also sounds amazing when you make another cocktail blend i call the "Disney Vintage Special" which is the same concept but instead of a U87Ai i switched it for the U87 Vintage. All three combos sound bonkers and i love them.

Seems a lot of studios are adopting the Sphere. Not hard to imagine why.

I agree Mark. Immediately loved it. The other thing I feel this way about on the L22 is a blend of the 800 with the 251! Something about it just covers all bases. Have a try. Of the 800 with the 12 is also super nice.

I think if the new TLM-103 and Brauner VM-1 models are any indication of the quality of future models UA may offer, whether in free upgrades or for purchase, there's a lot to love here again. This Brauner is just so great.

Thanks for this info, its pretty exciting for us L22 owners! I'm not too keen on the new 103, as its a pretty harsh mic, but I'll take it for a spin. (Its difficult to read enema copy without laughing...)

I’m liking using the 103 as an “additional flavor” blended with another mic a lot more than the 103 model on its own. “Enema Copy is No Laughing Matter” will be the name of my autobiography.

I was very skeptical about these emulations but I have to say this is pretty impressive

I want to believe we’re hearing the next generation of mic modeling with these new models and it’s a good omen of things to come.

I think in all fairness, your voice would sound good with just about any mic. Now where can I buy that coffee enema?

Thank you very much. Here's the thing, in the fine print you actually don't buy the coffee enema, you rent it.

As someone who haven't bought the Sphere yet but have been thinking about it for a while... Do you think the models from UAD Collections (Ocean, Bill Putman, etc) are worth? Or are the ones included with the original Sphere just enough?

You certainly get enough to work with using just the Sphere core mic collection. Adding Putnam or Ocean Way is just the icing on the cake. I waited for one of UA’s big sales and picked up Putnam and Ocean Way for a fraction of their regular price just to have them since they each have a couple of mics that are outstanding. Like the Putnam 47. I’m hoping these new mics included in the most recent Sphere plug in update bode well for further additions to the core collection.

hello and thanks for your videos man, a question? When you're a presenter or voice over, you have a habit of buying several microphones because you're practically obsessed with the sound of each one of them... or I'm wrong

Bingo. In the same way race car drivers obsess over every aspect of their performance, if you do VO and you’re not obsessing over your mics, trying to find the perfect sound, you’re missing out on improving one of the only aspects of the business you have control over.

I will pass on the enema hehehe
