The New AUDI RS4 Avant 2018 Should you get it?

Estate cars aren't meant to look as good as Audi's latest fifth generation A4 Avant. Jonathan Crouch checks out a car that aims to seriously dent the sales of rival models in the compact executive sector.
The fifth generation Audi A4 Avant now features a sharper look and still claims to be class-leadingly efficient, hi-tech and, yes, practical. There's a 510-litre boot that's bigger than you might expect from a car in the compact executive market segment and the usual cool, classy Audi ambience. You'd like one.
The A4 has always struck an appealing balance between handling and comfort and with this MK5 Avant model, the Ingolstadt engineers have sought to improve its credentials still further by developing a new five-link suspension system. Optional adjustable shock absorbers with 'sports' and 'comfort' modes will enable owners to get the most from this and a dynamic steering system is another extra cost feature that'll reward those you like their driving. Both features can be controlled through the standard Audi drive select driving-dynamics system, which alters throttle response and auto gearshift timings in its most basic form. Talking of auto gearshifts, the old CVT automatic gearbox has gone, replaced by a seven speed dual clutch 'S tronic' unit that claims to be able to improve both performance and fuel consumption.

This is probably the best review I have seen on this car and I’ve just watched around 7 in a run. You made me sad reminding me I would have to shell out £450 a year. I haven’t seen that on other reviews.
Simple question, simple answer. The Audi RS4 Avant is perfect for those who need to get _that_ Homebase and/or Ikea two cities away... *_yesterday_*
There’s no other review that covers absolutely every option, every configuration, it’s predecessors, it’s rivals, it’s history, etc etc etc etc etc etc as in depth or as well as this channel and this dude and his walk in scenes does, haha. Nice work. I learned more about this car watching this video than I did reading all of my magazine subscriptions featuring the RS4! Thank you!

Wow, what a find. By far the best review I've seen on this car!! Subbed!👍 The RS4 is a monster..it's just a shame that those adaptive dampers don't come as standard within the 63K standard price..even my wifes S1 has adaptive dampers fitted as standard.🙄

Great tech commentary, I was not aware Porsche has continued to play a part in RS models since the RS2. Johnathan did Porsche play a part in my C7 RS6 as well? I appreciate its all VAG and I know Porsche played a part in the new Bentley Continental. I compensate the driver feel with weight, but your right it does not work, you just know it will go round corners regardless. The chicken test is to see if you can pull away from a stationary T junction and give it full beams through a 90 degree turn.... knowing the quattro will sort it out, without ending in a hedge. Something you would not dream of in a rear wheel drive car. I am chicken every time.... :-). I am a new subscriber after this tech talk..., well done.

I think you under sold the S4 when comparing it to the RS4. The S4 does 0 to 62 in 4.4 seconds, which is only 0.3 slower than the RS. Both cars look the same from the drivers seat. Mortals would be hard pressed to notice the drive difference, but would be happy with the thousands of dollars saved by opting for the S4.

I’m 6”2 FT. If the front seat is fully reclined will my legs be squashed in the rear seats ?

Being 6"2 the seat doesn't have to be fully reclined. Their is room for two (comfortably) and a squashed third in the back if needed
Anyway this makes its way to North America?
If this came to the usa, I'd trade in my 2018 S5 Sportback for. It.
Why do you have to option up the exhaust?? Japan would make that standard!
